Stylish waterproof hat - does it exist?

WipsGlitter · 17/10/2012 11:51

After getting soaked this morning wrestling four year old, baby, purse, umbrella and keys. I decided a waterproof hat was the only way. Are there any decent ones about? I know boden used to do them but no longer. My mum has one, but it falls into the unstylish catagory!

Barbour do a few, they look ok to me.

A bit expensive though?

Here is the waxed one

and a quilted one

and a trench style

and the rest of them

Might not be your thing, but could look great with waterproof coat/waxed jackets, etc.

I've got a Helly Hansen sou'wester, works like a charm but deeply unstylish.

WipsGlitter · 17/10/2012 12:12

Those Barbour ones are good, hopefully worth the money!

I have an Australian leather stockmans hat. Its not stylish, but very good at keeping the rain off, and it doesn't drip down your neck either

comelywench · 17/10/2012 16:51

I have what I think is a leather stockman's hat too and I love it! It might not be stylish, but it's really practical and wasn't too expensive. I got mine from a game fayre many years ago, but it's still going strong. I like that it keeps the rain off my face so my make-up fares better than if I'm wearing a hood.

Here's mine but I took the bandy thing off.

comelywench · 17/10/2012 16:53

Uh oh, I just looked at the Barbour ones and they're lovely. Might have to upgrade my kookaburra Blush although the big rim it has is good for keeping the rain off one's face.

squeaver · 17/10/2012 16:55

These are rather nice: Flat-a-hat

Decameron · 17/10/2012 16:58

I have the first two barbour hats, nice on (I think!), worth the money.

TomsBentPinky · 17/10/2012 16:59

To answer your question, after looking at the links on this thread .... No.

QueenCadbury · 17/10/2012 17:39

The Barbour ones are definately worth the money. They're as stylish as you're going to get. When it comes to extreme weathers then I think practicality has to win over style!

ToastedTeacakes · 17/10/2012 19:44

This is why I have to buy a big coat with a secure hood - hats are problematic. I can never get it quite right.

TooMuchRain · 17/10/2012 20:27

I have a wax one with big brim which is brilliant unless it's windy...

marilynwhirlwind · 17/10/2012 22:04

I have this and it is certainly waterproof. I love it, but then I can't handle umbrellas and I think some hoods can look decidedly unstylish

UterusUterusGhali · 17/10/2012 22:08

I'm after a stockmans hat. They are too stylish, Pinky!
