Not Evans please..any size 20's out there?

Where do you shop?

I'm an 18 on top, 20 trousers and skirts. Also I'm just under 5'4" so I'm short.
I've realised that I'm not losing this weight any time soon, after trying for a year, so I'm ready to buy a lot of new clothes.
I'd welcome any suggestions.

I'm a size 18/20 and shop at Wallis, Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams, Sainsburys, Next, Phase Eight and occasionally New Look. Have looked at Boden but not bought yet.
I've never bought anything from Evans.

I wear Boden/phase eight/White company tunics/dresses over leggings.

I always wear stretch jersey, the Boden dressed cling in all the right places and I look much slimmer than an 18.

I'm short too.

I am in between 18-20 too at the moment

I have never even been inside Evans, it looks too old lady and for big people, which admittedly I am, but no.

I don't really like buying clothes, and am a casual dresser, even for work.

I buy jeans/trousers from Next & Boden, T-shirts & other tops from Sainsbury's, got some nice 'smarter' tops from Boden, wore them in the summer and now with a cardigan over, I have a winter coat from M&S per una, got a couple of nice tops from M&S autograph and some jumpers/tops from Fat Face.

gosh thats about it really - haven't bought anything new in ages though

I've just gone from being a size 28 to a size 20/22. The joy of being able to walk into most mainstream shops and pick stuff of the rails is amazing.

Sainsbury's is rather good, and I like the fact they do gym/running stuff in all the sizes as well as ordinary clothes.

One word in support of Evans - they have a new range of jeans and trousers cut for pear-shaped people (small waists and wider hips) which is a genius idea. I no longer have hugely gaping waistbands and my trousers fit properly. You'll probably find you are at least one (if not two) sizes smaller than usual.

ASOS does a lovely range called "curve" Not too expensive, free postage and returns.

Hobbs and Monsoon both do vanity sizing so a size 16 or 18 in either of those should fit

My mums been to Anna Scholz she also has online collection. It's a bit different to other things out there but pricey I think.

If you're needing to buy a fair amount of clothing, eBay Is always worth a look. LOADS of brand new clothes, ok so maybe not for 99p, but certainly a lot less expensive than the shops

I second Sainsburys too! After sneering at the last collection, the new Gok range is luuuurrvely. Lots of nice tops, dresses and trousers. There's also a good sale on. Can't beat Dotty P's for short length jeans either. Enjoy!

There are several brands mentioned that I'd never even heard of, plus Phase Eight and Wallis that I've never tried. There's a large Phase Eight shop near me but I've not been in it because I assumed it was only for small sizes.

I need a complete revamp of my A/W wardrobe, plus I'm going to be away in a tropical climate for a month in December/January, so lots of clothes to buy.

Piprabbit well done on the weight loss! I've been trying for about a year and a half and just cant do it so well done you.

Try Fat Face. They vanity size, although they have sized down about half a size this season according to staff I have spoken to. But you should be ok with an 18.

Sainsbury's are fab. I have lost some weight and I'm now a 16, 18 in some places, but Sainsbury's was my staple shop for a couple of years. Also v.cheap so you can buy stuff and then lose weight and chuck it out without feeling guilty.

I'm 16/18 formerly 18/20. I've dropped a size in last few months. Big bust, 5'8".

Boden - I find their jeans/trousers fit really well. They do cost more than I would usually pay, however for good fit it is worth it.

M&S - small on top/bust ALWAYS. Good for jeans though.

Dorothy Perkins - although it's all polyester so be selective. They do have some nice bits. I got some lovely summer maxi dresses from there.

ASOS Curve - brought my work Xmas party outfit from there last year. It's great. Technically too big now but I can't part with it yet.

Monsoon - though have had problems with tops being short in length.

TK Maxx - got last years winter coat from there - £40 and part cashmere!

Sadly supermarkets around my way don't stock clothing.

Yours Clothing. I can't rate them highly enough, they're the only shop for larger women who don't assume we all have short legs/arms. They do jeans in 4 leg lengths!

Don't recommend Anna Scholz - ridiculously expensive and most of their stuff - except for a very few pieces - is not even stylish, but just a bit weird/ in glaring patterns and unflattering styles, eg cowl necks.

I don't personally like any of the 'specialist' online retailers - Evans, Simply Be, Marisota, etc - either not stylish or not good enough quality, IMO. But that's a personal thing.

I get most of my stuff from Boden, who go up to 22. You have to pick and choose carefully (and avoid garish 'fun' patterns) - but you have to do that anywhere. Unlike you, I'm tall as well as large, but the reviews on their site usually give a good idea which styles suit taller or shorter people.

Used to get some basics from M and S Autograph but they seem to have generally gone down a bit recently - too many Per Una-ish things. There are a few good plain basics there, though, if you look really, really hard.

I love Hobbs - can't quite get into most of their stuff myself, but I expect you can.

You could also definitely wear Monsoon - they go up to 22.

PS On Bonaparte, have tried a couple of things and, for various reasons, they didn't work out on me in RL. But I think they'd be worth a try - certainly better than most British online plus retailers.

Love the Australian site but at £50 plus £20 shipping for a tshirt, it's a bit out of my price range!
