Colour and foils and blow dry.

What would you have paid?

I used to pay £170, now I have someone amazing for £80.

I paid around £130 for a full head colour, a full head of foils and a trim and blow dry a couple of months ago. My friend's seemed to think this was a lot, but I thought reaonable. When I was working in a salon 10 years ago, it would have been the same sort of price then, so AFAIAC I got a bargain!

i am out of touch but i used to pay 120 ten years ago - people went but i liked it

Like poster above I used to pay a lot more- about 120 now I have a fab stylist for 70 quid :)

My lovely mate who does hairdressing at home does mine full head of files, cut and blow dry £30 cash :0) says the bleach, toner, foils etc n,y work out to about £6 so she is making money and we get to have a good catch up at same time!

About £90? thats what i pay (cut too)

Was £140 + tip, now £60 as she has gone self employed and comes to my house. I make the coffee and no mags but we have a great catchup ( gossip).

I am probably completely naive then!

I had a lovely time with coffee and a lovely colourist and a sweet girl who did the blow dry.

When I booked the appointment I was told 'from £65' but when I went to pay it cost me £165

Ouch! I do hate when they do the "from" thing and then you end up paying a price that is way out of proportion to that.

I would have said something, I'm shocked at that price and live in London where getting you hair done is very expensive.

Fucking hell! I used to pay about £30 at the salon (in the North) and now I'm too bloody tight/skint and I get one for a fiver from Superdrug and get teenage DD to cover up my grey. Is this in London???

As an aside DH is Scottish and 5 years ago we were in Edinburgh and I sent him with 2 yo DS to get his hair trimmed whilst older DCs and me went round museum. He walked in to hairdressers by Waverley station and hairdresser said, 'I'd better just tell you it's £26 for a toddler's trim' [shocked]. DH was out of there like a shot, saying, 'Christ Almighty! At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!'

I physically could not speak!!

My legs actually went weak and I had to go straight home!

That is the price of a lovely winter coat or an ipod touch or food for a fortnight!

Am still in shock today.

I'd rather have shit hair than pay that sort of money! I haven't actually been in a hairdresser for about 12 years, and even when I did I used to go to the sort of hairdressers that you see in downmarket shopping centres, like Supercuts, where you don't even need an appointment, you just queue up with your shopping bags and wait your turn! I used to ask for a dry cut (as wasn't paying anyone to wash my hair!). Then when I had DCs I couldn't even be bothered to do that, so we have a mobile hairdresser who comes to us about 4 times a year and she trims my hair for £7! So in total over a year I spend £28 on my hair! Mind you I'm sure your £165 hair looks gorgeous! Perhaps my hair looks like £28 a year hair! I don't know, but I'd rather save the money!

I pay £70. I still think that is outrageous - but I know that it's on the cheap side now.

I'm going to investigate getting someone round to do it here at home. I wouldn't want to pay more than £30 for it though - on the basis that it takes an hour! (and costs of materials aren't exactly high)

Was that a cut as well?

Every 6 weeks I have colour and cut £85, and every other cut have the foils too.

Cut, colour, foils and blow dry £65.

I go to my hairdressers usually when there's an offer on. I just paid £60 for half head highlights, cut and blow dry. Even full price £120 seems about average.

Bargain here! Half head foils cut and blow for £48. Feeling very smug now as they do a fantastic job!

Jeez! And there's me smarting because my hairdresser has just put her cut and blow dry price up to £40.

If you all collectively stopped going to these places, prices would plummet. Hairdressing is the biggest con going. The materials cost next to nothing, there can't be that much skill involved, but they see fit to charge £100 an hour or thereabouts. Bastards. Utter bastardy bastards.
