Suede shoes

I haven't bought suede since I was a teenager and it was the cheap option.

But there's such a lot of it around at the moment.

Is it daft to buy suede shoes / boots? Don't they get trashed in the rain?

I have worn suede boots in the rain and so far they have survived (they were cheap ones from Sainsbury's, too).

I think if you spray them with protector and don't jump in puddles, they are fine.

That said, I would only wear my lovely Dune suede high heels in the rain if I was literally going from car to restaurant.

I wear my suede boots in the rain a lot, but I am having a bit of a suede experiment (as in, how long can I keep it looking good). I am trying to respray every couple of weeks and brush with a suede brush. They still look like new after a month of daily wear, will be interesting to see how thy hold up.

Oh, and I think thick soles help - if they are thin soles they will constantly have water at the sole/upper seam, and will stain quicker, IME.

I love suede, so it's worth the extra care for me.
