How easy is it?

This is for a friend who has a light brown bob and is desperate to go for a hair colour like Debra messing. Or a gorgeous Irish red.
How easy it is and is it likely to go well? As red is in. Like the women off mad men?
But she's worried she'll get stick for going 'ginger'

Nah, red is gorgeous! Miss my red hair Sad stupid work. I'd recommend the Schwarzkopf Live colour XXL brand, they do a really good vibrant red in a variety of chard and lasted for ages on my dark brown hair. L'oreal Excell preference is good too but I prefer the vibrancy of the XXL.

And if she gets any stick, I'd just tell them to fuck off - can't even be arsed to be witty to someone so inane, it'd be a waste of brain power!

I say go for it, maybe choose a semi-perm colour to test out the look first?
I had blonde hair and a month ago used Boots own brand Semi perm colour in Mahogany and it's the most amazing shade of pinky-reddy-brown I absolutely love it! Grin

Just looked at the boots one, how long did it last? It doesn't look too red in the picture?
Where as the xxl one is maybe too red?

hello pickles Smile

Id tell your friend avoid going red, it will last about 5-10 washes XXL.

Semi would last 3-5 if your lucky, if she really wants irish red.

Go to the hairdressers, or if shes brave dye it blonde and use special effects which is fab semi perm dye. I used it for years for my pink.

Red is the worst colour to get out!

I did this with my hair this year and got loads more compliments than I ever did as a blonde. I went more orangey red than red red, which suits me best. Go for it.

The boots one is COMPLETELY different to the picture! (I wasn't planning on going this pinky colour!) I only wash my hair about 2-3 times a week and I have just topped up the colour once since then. Yes it does fade a little but people keep saying its really lovely now it's faded a bit! An at only 2 for £5 it's not exactly breaking the bank!
I'd say it's not red red if that's what your friend is after, but more of a pinky brown (but that doesn't do it justice!) it is gorgeous tho!
