Bootcut jeans... For the bin?

I'm sorting out my winter wardrobe, and just found loads of pairs of boot cuts that haven't fitted me for a while but now do??? (weird coz I've not lost weight) anyway...

Do I throw them out, are they very dated? I would now only entertain buying skinnies, but I'm not really 'in' so not sure if boot cuts are still ok or not???

Chuck.

Maybe keep one pair!

Trills · 01/10/2012 15:09

Do you like them?
Do they fit you?
Do they look good on you?
Are they still approximately the colour they were intended to be? (and not a washed-out colour)

Karbea · 01/10/2012 15:16

trills I'm just not sure what I'd wear them with. They look ok on, but just so different from skinnies, I just don't know if I like them or not or whether it's just because they look different iyswim.

But I don't want to throw them out if in a months time everyone is wearing them and I'll be buying some, as some were pretty expensive back in the day...

Urgh... They are currently sitting on the bathroom bin!

I've recently bought two pairs of boyfriend jeans. I did a post on them earlier today, so have a look at that!

VivaLeBeaver · 01/10/2012 15:17

Bootcuts are meant to be coming back in.

CarpeJugulum · 01/10/2012 15:33

Sure I saw a picture of Victoria Beckham wearing a pair at the weekend... may have been in the Daily Fail

CarpeJugulum · 01/10/2012 15:35

Yup. They say flare, I say boot cut!

Karbea · 01/10/2012 15:37

Umm I've decided to keep my flares. Umm maybe I'll put the boot cuts back away with my summer clothes and rethink in the spring :S

If they fit and flatter, why chuck them out just because the shops want us to buy more clothes and declare some random items fashionable? I don't care if skinny jeans are in, if I look like I have 2 fat carrots instead of legs, I won't wear them.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 01/10/2012 15:49

Wanted to link the same pictures in the Daily Fail of Victoria Beckham. But *CarpeJugulum& beats me to it. If it's good enough for VB, it's good enough for anyone of us. If it looks good, no reason not to wear them.

justasecond · 01/10/2012 15:52

Bootcuts are fine. I wear them a lot more these days. The trick is to wear them in a dark wash and in a "skinny boot" style so that they do not flare out too much at the knee but instead just gently flare out to the ankle. Those ones VB is wearing are too flared and too long imo. I also like to semi tuck in a top or do the wendy tucking into vest thing (that MrsCB linked to a while ago) and wear a cardi or blazer over. Thats for days I want to look a bit smart Grin.

Caerlaverock · 01/10/2012 15:57

Vb looks ridiculous with her jeans trailing round like that. Is she wearing stilts?

Maat · 01/10/2012 16:05

I always think the secret to looking stylish is wearing what flatters your shape and not a mannequin.

Why do we have to have things that are IN and things that are OUT?

What's wrong with having different styles of jeans for wearing with different tops?

Skinny jeans look good with long line tops but awful with shorter tops/jackets unless you have a fab figure.

I have jeans of every shape and colour and wear them whenever I want.

Trills · 01/10/2012 16:19

I like VB's jeans there

DonaAna · 01/10/2012 16:26

Stylish Italian women wear bootcuts a lot - the most fashion-conscious trail the floor without showing the shoe. I wouldn't ditch them, they look much better on most women than skinnies ever did.

civilfawlty · 01/10/2012 16:28

I put a seam up the back of mine to improve the leg shape. Much nicer.

Tweet2tweet · 01/10/2012 20:24

I only ever wear bootcut- don't care about what is in or out. Trick is to get dark blue with a narrow flare below the knee. Make sure they come down below your ankle and just skim the mid/bottom of your shoes.

I personally think 'skinny' jeans look very fashion victim and constantly see women pulling them up because the elastic seems to go in them, not a good look!

duende · 01/10/2012 21:38

justasecond could you link to a photo of this tucking into a vest thing, please?
I can't imagine/ understand what it means...
