What do you wear on your lips?

The MUA thread got me thinking - I've worn nothing but lipgloss for the past decade. Is it time to change to lipstick? Is it back? Did it ever go away?

I quite fancy a bit of old-school glamour (been watching too much Mad Men!)

So, do you wear lipstick or lipgloss? And what colour lipstick should a natural redhead wear?

Love the flicky eyeliner/red lips look, but I've never mastered the flick - need to practise Sali Hughes' method.

I'm yearning to look polished and retro-glam - probably because I'm usually accessorised with dribble and wee (2.5 year old and 3 month old DSs).

To do the flicky eyeliner trick - which I never mastered either until now - I really recommend the new Maybelline eyeliner pencil. It's chunky yet gives precision lines as dramatic (or subtle) as you like and glides on like a liquid. You can't go wrong, it's great stuff.

I NEVER leave the house without my lipstick. I wear berry or red tones pref matte. I have never thought the eyes or lips thing was good advice but then I have never gone in for heavy eye make-up. I usually use a cream/taupe eyeshadow then line my eye 3/4's of the way with a little flick finishing of with mascara.

I look half dead without a strong lipstick. I am pale with dark ash hair and grey/blue eyes so need a bit of oomph. The only lipsticks that I think look odd are those beige/frosted pink ones. Why would anyone want to blanche out their lips?

For everyday I wear BB Nude.

I like Clinique's Almost Lipstick as it very sheer, not to shiny and you can build up colour if you want. It's nice and subtle and comes in quite a few shades now, inc. the lovely Black Honey

I paid a visit to my local Superdrug today and picked up a MUA nude colour, think it was 11, a coral (15) and a scarlet (13?) Experimentation to commence forthwith, and I may then splash out on one of the Chanel/Clinique/Bobbi Brown suggestions here .

Thing is I've realised that lipstick and babies don't go well together - DS2 is currently sporting a fetching coral kiss mark on his fat cheek. Oh well - he'll have to put up with the pitfalls of his mother's probably futile pursuit of glamour!

I went into Lush at the weekend and bought what I thought was nail varnish.
It wasn't.
It was a lipsticky/gloss thing in a little bottle. (Hence my confusion!)
(now i know why i don't often go in there!).

It is amazing, i put it on this morning and it has really stayed put, I got "glamour" which is very pink - it looks better than it sounds as it suits my colouring and very comfortable to wear too.
I would never have bought it if I'd known what it was but it paid to experiment (this time).

Une nude lipstick (or lipbalm) I think it's called is lovely, and no chemicals. I use number 507. Gives a bit if colour but still quite natural. You can get them from Boots

Natural redhead. I love Lush new lip colours and they stay on. I break all the rules and wear Decisive (red) or Passionate which is an insane pink

Bet you look fab brighthair! The Lush Liquid Lipstick sounds interesting. I didn't even realise they did makeup - thought it was all handmade soaps and stuff!

This is the red if it works. I love the feel younger highlighter from Lush too, glowy but not glittery. Excuse weird photo I was trying to photo eye makeup for a friend!
