Do I put it all over my hair? Do you ladies leave it overnight?

Oops Blush greasy.

MoomieAndFreddie · 28/09/2012 20:11

No, as long as you wash it out properly, I do 2 shampoo's, then a REALLY good rinse, then condition as normal.

anniewoo · 29/09/2012 09:24

Thank you

Tamisara · 29/09/2012 09:29

When washing out coconut oil, if you add shampoo to your hair first, with just a tiny amount of water to allow it to spread, then it works better.

MoomieAndFreddie · 29/09/2012 09:38

Yes I do that too tamisara

AmberLeaf · 29/09/2012 09:43

The cheaper ones are made from refined coconut oil, they are still 100% but not as good as the virgin coconut oils.

Ive tried both sorts and the virgin one is far superior.

I use it mainly on my skin, I cleanse with it and moisturise too.

AmberLeaf · 29/09/2012 09:45

The one is use now is magical IMO, it cleared up my spotty teens face and my skin glows since ive been using it.

A lot of the goodness is lost in the refining process apparently. having used both im inclined to agree.

Sainsbury sounds expensive I get a bottle of ktc stuff 250mil for under 2 quid, I'll have to get a hair net or something and try it on my hair.

MoomieAndFreddie · 30/09/2012 20:00

what make do you use amber?

AmberLeaf · 30/09/2012 20:28

This is the one I use Moomie, thats a link to their website but I originally ordered it via their page on ebay.

coffeecake · 30/09/2012 20:35

Does it promote hair growth do you know?

AmberLeaf · 30/09/2012 22:31

Not sure, but it is good for dry scalps/dandruff/cradle cap.

MoomieAndFreddie · 01/10/2012 09:11

Its meant to make hair stronger and help prevent hair loss /breakage coffee which I suppose would promote hair growth I guess...I know the condition of my hair has vastly improved since using it

amber just read the reviews on your stuff, sounds amazing, one woman said she uses it in her COFFEE Confused

SunWukong · 01/10/2012 09:55

Do you need to wash your hair more?, I don't do conditioner since I started using a shampoo bar, if I just used the coconut on my head think I'll do it once a week, do you think I'd see any difference?.

I just put some almond oil on my hair if it seems dry but that's not happened since the sun ran away.

No sunwu I only wash my hair once every couple of days, same as before. But I only use the coconut oil the night before I am due a hairwash.

AmberLeaf · 02/10/2012 18:36

Moomie, I read about using it for cooking etc, in fact when I first got it I had several a spoonful, it is delicious, but I also discovered it has a laxative effect so I dont do that anymore!

Its supposed to help 'balance' thyroid function if ingested. So that is another good reason to cook with it. Really is wonderful stuff.
coffee if you are still on, I found it helped with that annoying tingling/ itching thing in my scalp.

BustyDeLaGhetto · 30/10/2012 18:10

I have two pots - one for hair/body and a gert big posh organic cold pressed one for cooking. The health benefits of this stuff is amazing. I put a tbsp daily into my smoothie and use it for curries as well. It contains high levels of lauric acid which is also commonly found in breast milk and is highly anti viral.

MoomieAndFreddie · 30/10/2012 18:59

i have been eating a spoonful of it a day for a couple of weeks, but as its very fatty surely it must be very calorific so surely not good if you are watching your weight? like me always

BustyDeLaGhetto · 30/10/2012 20:31

I thought that initially but after a bit of digging I found this article written by a proper doctor what knows science which tells you that it actually OPTIMIZES body weight, increases metabolism and doesn't clog arteries like other fats.

See also here theluckyapple.wordpress.com/ and scroll down for the coconut oil article and smoothie recipes.

I use so much of it now I am literally 90% Coconut. But inside, like a bounty bar.

AmberSocks · 11/02/2013 10:54
