H & M sizing, true to size?

Have seen a couple of cheapy things online that I would like to order but I;m not sure what their sizing is like, any idea?

Not helpful to you but I find it extremely variable... I have size 8 tops that fit similarly to others that are labelled size 12.

I'm a 14 and find it really variable too. I have to get size 16 trousers, especially the slim fit ones. However in jumpers I tend to go for a medium. It really depends on the style.

Any tops with buttons will not fit round my chebs. I have a largish chest (D cup) but elasticated tops, jumpers etc seem to be fine. Just buttons.

I've never really tried jeans/trousers in H&M.

I'm the same, hardly ever wear blouses because of the gaping button problem.

Their clothes are cut small, unless you're built like a slim teenager with no hips go a size up.

agreed with other posters, variable but usually on the small side. i am usually a 12 but would order a 14 there.

also it is worth knowing that their size medium is defined as a 14 - 16, so is relatively generous.

Yep I'm pretty much the same. Went out fully kitted in H&M clothes last week - my top was an 8, my jeans were a 14 and my jacket was a 16 Clothes labelled S(mall) are really Medium and clothes labelled M(edium) are Large!!

Funnily enough I went in there today looking for a dress I'd seen on their website. They didn't have the dress in stock but a very kind boy, showed me the range they came from and told me to try something else, from the same range, on to check the size. Which suggested to me that sizes are very variable

Yes it's wears as hell, I remember one confusing day when I had on a size 8 top and couldn't get the size 16(!) jeans to button up.

Wears? No. Weird.

Pretty bad. I have had size 10's I can't do up in the changing room and size 10's than fall off me.

I have pretty much given up on H&M as it is so hit and miss. I really can't be bothered to get 3 different sizes of everything each item to try on each time.

Vanity sizing through and through. I recently put on half a stone and according to them I am still size 8 (trousers), which I was pre-DD going to the gym 4 times a week. Even then I was a size 8 to 10, so there is no way I can now be an 8. Even looking at them, you can see they are not for a slim person, I they are a 12...

DD(14) and normally a very standard size 12 had to size up to a 14 and she says even then her straight skirt is tight.

Im a 16 and I couldn't get near a size 18 gillet.

However, their kids stuff is much better, age 11 DD2 found age 11 was right.

I find their sizing is big not only because it's vanity-sized but because so much of their stock is composite sizing - a 'small' is sized 10/12 and an 'extra small' is sized 6/8. Despite being a 10, I am an XS in H&M simply because I'm a 10 that's closer to eight rather than closer to twelve. Vanity sizing aside, composite sizing always means nothing fits beautifully. And yet still I fall for it being cheap, cheerful, and 'extra small'. I'm so at myself for that!

I think the sizing is all over the place. Just got my £100 order. 2-4yrs tops too small for my average 2yr old dd and 6-8 top too small for 5yr old ds. My size 16 dress is far too tight. (i'm a 14) and my medium jumpers are massive!!

Yeah, just came on to say the same as everyone else. No rhyme or reason whatsoever

Oh and I spoke to soon 11 yo DDs newest H&M trousers are 12-13.

Most other people's that sizes are way too long.
