Hot styling brush/dryer recommendations please?

I have very thick, wavy hair in a crop which I'm growing out (lost my hair earlier this year during chemo). It's too short to use my GHD's on and I'm not willing to buy the thinner version when I know I'm not going to keep the crop. I just need something to style it with in the meantime!

Blowdrying doesn't work, it gives me weird flicky-out bits and deep waves that look odd. I think a hot brush that I can use on wet hair would help, but I have no idea where to start looking.

Help please, oh wise people of the S&B section! :-)

I forgot to add, I've looked at the Babyliss big hair and it's too expensive. I don't think it would suit me either as the brush seems too big.

That looks good, but now you've mentioned it, I think I need one with soft bristles. Oops! I didn't mean to be awkward.
