I bought one of those jumper "shaver" thingies from John Lewis (£7) and used it on my knitwear and it has totally rejuvenated them! Huge relief as couldn't really afford to go and replace all my jumpers.
Works best on wool apparently and the assistant said it's not advisable on cashmere.
