A winter coat challenge!

mummynoseynora · 24/09/2012 19:43

I have decided this year I need to buy a proper winter coat and stop stealing DH's various array .... so heres the challenge

It must look nice
It must fit over my gut
It must be warm
It must be waterproof
It must be as cheap as humanely possible (!)

I think I have set myself an impossible task, and I completely understand for a decent weatherproof coat I could and probably should spend a small fortune, but I don't have it - simple!

If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated!

OK - starter for 10!

I bought one of these today, in black - it's incredibly light and not quite as 'puffy' as it looks in the photo. Close-fitting, it's actually quite stylish.

But you're welcome to say you hate it! Grin

hmmmm I would like it if I was tall... I however am not, and look like an oompa loompa in that length stuff.... so as a footnote - it needs to be waistlength or just over! Blush

Has anyone mentioned the Merrell Haven, yet? Grin

moonstorm · 25/09/2012 20:22

ps buy from Sportsdirect or somewhere like that - not full price!

mummynoseynora · 25/09/2012 20:23

Just searched it on amazon..... almost fits the bill - however how much?! Shock

Def needs to be cheaper! As a hint, I spend all my money on the kids and therefore have next to none for me Confused Grin

Thanks moon - any thoughts on colour?! I have darkish brown hair... kind of like the teal one but not sure if its a bit naff!

hugoagogo · 25/09/2012 21:59

If you quote 20coat when you order today at landsend, you might be able to get £20 off, if you spend £80 (some of it on coats).

Don't shout at me if it doesn't work please, as I'm not 100% sure it will work for anyone but me. Worth a try though.

mummynoseynora · 25/09/2012 22:08

code doesn't work Sad guess it might need to be all on a coat ?!

OP posts:
mummynoseynora · 25/09/2012 22:08

thanks anyway though hugoagogo

hugoagogo · 25/09/2012 22:14

Ah shucks, I really wanted it to work for you.

Someone on here posted a 25% off code here the other day, which I used and I wanted to spread the love a little.

moonstorm · 25/09/2012 22:24

I love the teal, but tend to go for a neutral coat so that it goes with more (the last time I bought a lovely coloured coat, I kept stressing about whether it wen with my clothes).

mummynoseynora · 25/09/2012 22:27

yeah my thoughts too.... although my trousers are always neutral - jeans / black trousers for work

The only other colour I am debating is the dark mahogany - but would that be too much dark sometimes?

couldn't go for the lovely ivory one... DS would see to that being ruined Angry

Have namechanged but this is OP,
Coat has arrived and I love it! Extremely toasty, comfy and unfrumpy. Full of secret pockets inside the main ones

Thanks for your help all, very happy!
