So I have a dress. It's just above the knee. Is it okay to wear black opaques unless it is a v sunny day?

And if I don't 'do' hats or fascinators, what DO I do? Have v boring dark brown shaggy bob thing.

Oh dear - that bad, eh?

What colour dress- can you link to it?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2012 19:51

Not online anymore. It's a sort of dusty blue colour with a draped silky front with dusty pinkish flowers on. Sounds hideous but it's nice really! It looks fine with opaques, but not sure it one should wear opaques to a wedding even in Autumn?

Please help - to opaque, or not to opaque? If the weather today is anything to go by, it's likely to be cold and wet. Bare legs are not an option.

And what about my head? Hair up? If so, how? Down and sleek? Please help!

What shoes are you wearing? It really doesn't sound like an opaque tights sort of dress. Sheer nudes would probably be better.

Chewbecca · 23/09/2012 15:40

Re: hair, are you any good at putting up? I know I can't do it myself. Can you get a blow dry on the morning? Always best bet I think.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/09/2012 15:45

It does look fine with the opaques in a sort of 'slightly alternative art gallery-ish way' if that makes sense. Shoes a re v high black platforms, which go well with opaques. I've made the dress sound much softer and prettier than it really is.

I think you've made your mind up that the opaques DO work so go for it if you are comfy in them, which I guess in this situation means if you rather fancy the are gallery look!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/09/2012 15:48

Hair - I'm rubbish but dd one could probably put it into a chignon-thing.

It does look nice with sheer nudes too, but the shoes are probably a bit 'hard' for nudes - and also I have a bit of a tan so my usual nudes are too light and the next shade are hideous.

If it looks nice with opaques then I definitely think, given the weather, that you won't look out of place. Bare legs with goosebumps is not a good look!

Maybe you could post a pic of the dress, to get more opinions, if you are not sure.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/09/2012 18:02

Thanks.

Dress not online anymore, so I can't find a pic. If I go for nude tights, can anybody recommend any nice ones which are not shiny and are a good colour for English pallor with a hint of fading tan? And would they look stupid worn with black shoes?

found it

Otherwise I have a plain black VW dress or a dark blue silk dress (but I wear that for work so it doesn't feel much fun).

I think the model in that picture is wearing black opaques or leggings. I think you will be fine in them.

Lovely dress btw.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/09/2012 18:15

Thank you.:) I thought she was wearing skinnies but yes, I think you're right - they're leggings. I suspect she's about a foot taller than me though. I'm hoping it will look okay with just a plain black blazer over - if not, I'm doomed!
