Leggings?

Tee2072 · 21/09/2012 08:14

Part of my job often entails crawling along the floor laying cable but I have to dress professionally so jeans are out. Hence tunics/dresses and leggings.

After spending a good part of last night hiking up said leggings, I have concluded it is time for new ones. Peacocks used to be my go to leggings store, but they've closed here and so I am not keen on even using the website.

I live in Belfast and don't have a car so I am limited to pretty much city centre. I have:

M&S
BHS
Debenhams
Next
Primark
TK Max

Small independent stores.

Where would you go for cheapish but highish quality leggings?

The Asda ones are good as they are fairly thick (so no knicker labels showing through Wink and keep their shape even after a few washes. At £6, I think it's worth a try.

alemci · 21/09/2012 11:39

I bought some from John Lewis which were good and some from M&S. TBH i don't think leggings are a great look on me so i don't wear them a great deal.

googietheegg · 21/09/2012 12:31

Tee2072 · 21/09/2012 12:41

The first M&S ones Gobblers linked to come up very big! I'm a 12-14, bought a 14 and now regret it!

Top shop are very good. I have top shop sones on their 3rd winter. Next are pretty good too.

beingginger · 21/09/2012 12:59

I don't rate the Asda ones at all. I bought a pair a few weeks ago and they have bobbled loads.
I had a lovely pair from Gap last year, they washed well and no bagging, i ripped them though and i can't see them on the website to buy a new pair

Jazzicatz · 21/09/2012 13:10

I am 5'9" and a size 14, I got the large and they fitted perfectly. I wore them last night to a dance class and they stayed put, no hoicking and hid my wobbly belly. I luff them!

Lostthewilltolive · 21/09/2012 13:17

I second the £7.99 H&M leggings but I've found that after a few months they go threadbare on the inside - they look like they have stretch marks Grin

numptymark1 · 21/09/2012 13:20

which ever you buy, try them on, bend over and look in the mirror

very slim lady at school the other day, she looked fine standing up, then she bent over to the pram and you could see next week's washing as my Granny would say lol

CakeInMyFace · 21/09/2012 13:24

I like sainsburys ones too. Two pairs for a tenner too and I find they wear really well.

Tee2072 · 21/09/2012 14:01

I never wear them with short shirts!! Always dresses or long tunics!

And I never bend over. Ladies bend their knees. Grin

Asda Sainsburys and Newlook esp esp Newlook last and wear really well on me.

ZombTEE · 24/10/2012 20:19

Thank you thank you thank you wonderful ladies.

M&S Women leggings were on special at 1/2 price and I've bought 3 pairs and I adore them and will be buying more!

GingerLemonTea · 24/10/2012 20:31

H&M are good. V cheap & long lasting.

STBBilly · 24/10/2012 21:31

when did you get them zombtee? i cant see them on offer online!

ZombTEE · 24/10/2012 21:54

Must have been last week. It was rather odd as there wasn't a sign or anything, they just rang up as £7.50 instead of £15.

Loveleopardprint · 25/10/2012 06:46

Does anyone else have the urge to tell women on the street that their leggings are see through? Have seen some terrible sights recently and wonder if they know everyone can see their pants? Blush

ZombTEE · 25/10/2012 06:53

What I really want to do, Loveleopard is pass a law that requires a full length mirror next to all front doors and a system where the door won't open until a person checks themselves from all angles! [hgrin]

I swear, some people don't own a mirror at all.

Loveleopardprint · 25/10/2012 12:11

Excellent idea. I would second that motion.
