Boots and dresses

I am useless at making things go, and am fed up with jeans. Can dresses such as this really be worn with chunky tights and boots suchs as these? Or have I made this up? Also, would you layer the dress or wear a cardi to keep warm? What sort of cardi?

I do all the time, guess I might look odd to some people but I like it. I normally wear a long boyfriend cardigan over the top.

Yes! Although I would go for less detailed boots with such a busy print on the dress. I wear dresses with opaques and either these ankle boots or my ancient dark brown winter boots, which are a similar chunky shape to the ones you linked but without the fluff. If I were rich I would buy these to wear with pretty dresses.

I don't know the answer to your second question. I hate cardis and also hate the long-sleeved top under dress look. I just wear a dress with sleeves or a warm coat and hope the heatings on wherever I'm going

I agree about losing the fur trim, but I love a nice snuggly cardi .

It works in a rad fem sort of way. If you try too hard to look naice it is a frumpy look

Yes, short dress and clompy boots rather than knee-length jersey wrap dress and pointy stretchy naice boots.

Calf length no... If the boots are clompy, dress shld be short IMHO

Boots will def be clompy, my feet look silly in anything too narrow and pointy. I am not that tall (5'4) so anything calf-length also looks silly on me.

TheBirds I love those expensive boots, but depsite my best efforts this afternoon cannot find anything as nice but cheaper.

I have the first boots you linked and they are the most comfortable, versatile footwear ever! Cosy and warm too. I think they look good with short dresses or skirts, also tucked into jeans or leggings.

Jones Bootmaker usually have simple, clompy unfussy ones too.

I like these ones from jones bootmaker, camper shoes are normally really comfortable too.

I already have merrell Oslo boots, they are super warm and weatherproof, but not sure they'd go with a dress really, a bit too fussy I think.
