I need advice, because I'm clueless

Just aquired a calf length Phase Eight wrap style dress. It's predominantly brown, with cream, dusky pink and black flower ball thingys on it. Looks fab on. But I have no clue what to wear on my feet. I think I need ankle boots, probably brown. Can anyone please direct me to something that won't look awful? I'm 5' 9", so don't want too much of a heel. Or, if I've got the whole boot thing wrong, please tell me

I'm by zero means an expert but I'm thinking an ankle boot might not be the way to go? Just that it might leave an "odd" amount of leg showing between the hem and the top of the boot. Perhaps a strappy affair? Someone more Gok-esque is bound to be along soon...:)

Oh crap. I don't want to wear heels

Oh seriously, don't go by anything I say! I was answering unanswered messages Grin

Is it a casual dress, or for work, or for a special occasion? Can you link to a picture?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/09/2012 21:13

It's just an every day dress really. Not for work or going out anywhere posh. More a 'nice pub lunch with your husband' type deal. Or a 'drink with your mature mates' thing. Looks lovely on. Can you wear knee length 'smart' boots with a mid calf dress?

Definitely knee length boots.

Apparently loafers are very fashionable these days but that might be a bit clumpy?

Shakey1500 · 20/09/2012 21:18

I think knee length smart boots would be better tbh. Will the hem "skim" the boots or cover them a bit?

I feel guilty for my glib answer now Blush

Born2bemild · 20/09/2012 21:21

Definitely knee length boots I think. Maybe suede pull ons with a low kitten heel would not be too difficult heel-wise.

So good I said it twice!

KateByChristmas · 20/09/2012 21:23

Ballet flats or those new ballets pumps with the very very small block heel?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/09/2012 22:01

I think the hem would cover knee length or even calf length boots. Ok or weird looking?

Could you wear the dress and go boot/shoe shopping? Accost customers and do a straw poll type thing?

At a guess, I would still say the knee high boots.

The oracle that is net-a-porter says
knee boots with the tops hidden are fine
loafers are fine
flat ankle boots are fine
