i have went from dark dye to light ash blonde, and it took me a long process to get there. now i have to get it dyed every 6 weeks or i have horrible roots... now i both cannot afford to keep it up, and i don't have the time to keep getting it done...

the time is due for me to get it done so can anyone knowledgeable help with options?

if i could do it myself i would, but im not confident, and ive wrecked my hair before using crap dyes from boots, and it would have to be a pretty fool proof method.

the other option is to get the hairdresser to dye it a dark blonde which is pretty boring but which is probably my natural colour, and hopefully i wouldn't have to go back to get it done again. have i missed anything? any ideas?

Hi Jan,

Being a hairdresser myself you have 3 other options that will help minimise the root growth..

You can either have low lights weaved into your hair to match your own natural colour...or get your hair back to its natural colour and have highlights..

If you have shorter hair (jaw level and above) you can go for a cap colour which will give a more blended look...again have the contrasting colour the same as your natural.. of the reverse if you if your base colour is your natural shade

Both option will hide re-growth a lot better than a full head colour.

Good luck

Thanks for ur advice... I got it too late as I phoned for an appt and they could take me straight away so I made a snap deciison! I decided to go for a few shades darker all over colour, which is as close to my natural colour as they can get. I'm sitting with the dye on now and itl be a big change!! Scary. What I can do if I feel I want it is get a few foils through it in time like u say.
