Hi S and B folks, I am thinking flared swing dress or pencil dress. It has to be red, white or blue, or a combination of those. Any suggestions ? I need it in 2 weeks so internet?

Hey - Have a look at Deadly is the Female, 20th Century Foxy, Vivienne of Holloway, LindyBop.

There are some nice ones on Ebay too, if the above are too expensive.

This is pretty if you're looking for 40s style.

I have a lovely dress from here. Great delivery too.

I love this website, although Im not sure if the dresses are a bit casual for a ball?

I have got 3 dresses from Lady V - all round fab service and the dresses are beautiful. I have 2 Hepburns, the black and white polka dot and the tropical bird. I also have a swing dress, with a blue ditsy flower print. I bought all of mine in the sale and they were £30 each. I have just bought a petticoat to go underneath, I will be wearing my polka dot one on Saturday!

BTW, I'm very busty, but due to the cut the Hepburn still looks beautiful on.

Havingkittens, I love the satin tara starlet one!

Wilf, I think they are a bit, um, something for me. Not got my eye in yet with this stuff but Hell Bunny is a bit too young for me I think ( am 41). Wonder if you go braless with these halterneck dresses - I like www.vivienofholloway.com/en/category/50s%20Halterneck%20Satin%20Dress/ but am worried about the fit.

Have a look at Stop Staring stuff (what's your budget?) - I like 20th Century Foxy too.... Whirling Turbans whirlingturban.com/ would be good for formal stuff, but not sure if it would take too long...

WilfSell · 19/09/2012 21:22

I agree. Some of the Limb and Miss Candyfloss ones are a bit more grown up, but perhaps not for a ball. I don't actually own any of them but I'm lurking there until I'm a smaller size and then I'm going to buy a Limb tea-dress Grin

Shutupalittlebit · 19/09/2012 21:24

Um, probably about £100 or so in theory until I impulse buy some thing more expensive, after which I will tell myself that was a guideline!

Those are lovely funnypeculiar - I love the stop staring billion dollor one, and the Janet one I would love as a day dress. I might have to hit ebay now and see if I can get on a bit cheaper!
