Today I bought this dress

This bolero (colour matches perfectly to the dress)

These shoes

And a couple of cheapy accessories - sparkly beady bracelet and some black flowers on clips for my hair.

The dress is unbelievably flattering Shock Grin

Don't complain about the flatties because I simply cannot walk in heels.

Will I need to wear tights? Would a bit of attention to my legs like exfoliating and a hint of a tan do? I honestly have no idea if bare legs is allowed. The dress is just below the knee - the wedding is greek orthodox, if that makes any difference.

Lovely, but will you get much wear out of the bolero? It seems a bit pricey if you won't wear it again. A black cardigan or wrap would be okay and you'll probably get more wear out of it.

Shoes are fine, you'll be comfortably still dancing when others are rubbing their heels!

Try Sally Hanseb airbrush legs after exfoliating .

Schlock · 17/09/2012 20:07

Probably won't get a huge amount of wear out of the bolero but I could have spent a month looking for a cheaper one that matched the colour. It'll last years, especially if I don't wear it often Wink

What is sally hanseb airbrush? I don't want orange legs! So I don't need to wear tights?

Oh, sorry forgot to answer the tights question. I wouldn't wear black opaques with flats because I don't think that it's very flattering on anyone, regardless of skinny/chunky calves. Regular tan tights if you aren't comfortable with bear legs.

Do you normally use fake tan? If not, steer clear if you are not practiced. It can only end up streaky! Embrace the pale! I do and the bruises, veins and i've missed with a razor

PessimisticMissPiggy · 17/09/2012 20:09

Can I be cheeky and ask how old you are OP?

Schlock · 17/09/2012 20:10

I have used fake tan in years gone by. Didn't bother this year. I usually mix a blob of somethingorother with a blob of moisturiser and it's never been streaky and isn't too dark either so I'm confident I can get that bit right if it's necessary. Might cover the odd leg blemish a bit than if they're pale. I think I need to go get one of those scrubbing glove things to give them a really good going over every day this week.

I am the wrong side of 40. Size 12.

Was going to tell you off re shoes, then read on with your post...

I like the outfit, and would go without tights, as long as legs are corned-beefy!

PessimisticMissPiggy · 17/09/2012 20:17

Then I think that this is just right! It's young without being 'mutton' and on trend with the geometric pattern.

I'm 30 and buy phase eight stuff for formal/work best but try and mix with 'younger' brands/trends. I only say about the fake tan because I think that it's so much hassle to do if you aren't confident doing it.

Have fun! Tell us if you get to smash any plates at the reception!

Schlock · 17/09/2012 20:21

Oh blimey, is the plate smashing thing greek? I know about the money sticking thing but I'd completely forgotten about the crockery Shock Grin I might have to take earplugs.

Gosh, on trend? Not something I've been in quite some time I don't think. When not working I live in jeans, cons and a hoodie Blush
