M&S - when will I ever learn???

The lovely people at M&S online have cancelled yet another order stating that the stock is no longer available. This has happened to me several times over the past year and I've had enough. This time I mean it, they aren't getting another penny from me.

When I placed the order on Thursday there were more than 10 items in stock. Today they have decided to pick my order, and surprise surprise there are no items available.

Last time it happened, I complained and was told that as I made an order for in store delivery, if someone places an order and requests next day delivery, the stock is re-allocated to the customer who wants the items sooner.

I know I'm not out of pocket. I know it won't kill DS to not have a cute stripy bear jumper, but it gives me the rage that they expect you to pay extra for next day delivery to guarantee the item. Does any other retailer work like this?

I need to promise myself not to set foot in the stores again. Thought I'd be able to find a decent pair of winter boots for DD, and H is on the lookout for a smart winter coat suitable for work. Surely M&S would provide for both?!? Nope, and I ended up having a massive rant to a woman in the lift about how M&S has completely lost their way. That and if I'd had a naked flame at the entrance, the whole ground floor of man made fibres would have gone up in seconds.

I've answered my own question. Mothercare also operate like this. I no longer shop there either.

They have become shitty mcshit-shit from shitsville and will no longer have my business.

I recieved some of the worst customer service of my life there two days ago, the member of staff serving me actually shouted at me. Shock They also kept a very elderly and rather dodery lady in front of me waiting for ages, for no reason at all, she asked if she could hold on to my arm for support, prompting me to ask it anyone would be considering serving her today?

I have also bought school uniform from them this year and that is shit too.

M&S for example, are twats of a shop.

I nearly bought a work dress today, but DD stopped me. She was right: it did look cheap. (It was cheap, but that's besides the point)

LeFreak · 16/09/2012 18:36

Oh I never go in there any more except to use their loos

Don't use their online site either except to laugh at their vile clothes on speziale threads

Not Style & Beauty but HMV online also do this.

You wait 1 or 2 weeks and then get an email telling you the item is out of stock.

They then complain that everyone shops at Amazon now and HMV are struggling. Ooooooo, wonder why?

Hmm
Littlepumpkinpie · 16/09/2012 22:43

They do not have there own distribuition centre at present never have done. One is being built and will be ready some time next spring I believe. Yes their clothes awfull always have been dire colours and more old lady than cutting edge fashion but this has always been the case with M&S. Hopefully things will improve once they come out the dark ages :)

I don't like their process of ordering online and collecting instore.

Most places that do this, you pay at the shop when you collect it if you decide you want it.

M&S want you to pay upfront online then will refund you instore a few days later when you go instore if you don't want to keep it.

Don't like that method.

I had a nightmare ordering online for school uniform! They said all In stock, then 3 days later sent me an email that the card payment didn't go through, address registry detail issue. I logged in amends it, 2 days later I checked to see whether it had been processed and still hadn't, so cancelled the whole lot. In total took 4 hours of my life! Then had to do it all over again in town with 6dc in tow! well actually dh did I couldn't face it

I too was once yelled at by a store manager when I returned a faulty item! She accused me of breaking it. Angry I emailed the CEO and got a replacement, a voucher and an apology and I hope she got a bollocking.

Recently ventured into the Trafford centre m&s to buy boys pj's they had none. Not one pair in any size. Hmm

ComradeJing · 17/09/2012 01:30

M&S are the only ones who have ever done it to me. I only buy knickers and button down pajama tops (great for breast feeding at night when it's cold) from them now. Towels and sheets are good for the fact that I can get them delivered overseas and they are good value in comparison to what is available over here.

Apart from that I buy bugger all.

nancerama · 17/09/2012 11:42

And the item they cancelled yesterday is back in stock today. How convenient the day after their 20% off offer finished.

This has happened to me this morning, I ordered last thursday to collect this week and just had an email to say one item is now out of stock.

newpup · 17/09/2012 12:28

I only buy pants, tights and Pjs for the DDs in M&S. Customer service at our local store is actually very good but the items they sell are awful!

I went at the weekend to buy myself some tights but was not impressed with the selection. Ended up spending £25 on tights! £3.50 for a pack of everyday 40 denier choc colour ones, £9.95 on 3 pairs of quite nice coloured ones and a whopping £12 on a lovely pair of thick fashion ones! Did seem a lot so I hope they are good!

I buy pants in there but never bras, worst ever fit and poor quality IMO. I do buy DD1 bras in there as the girls ones are quite good.

albertswearengen · 17/09/2012 12:32

They've done this to me as well- but they still sent out kids socks I ordered as well. So I ended up paying £4.95 to get some socks delivered worth £5. Don't order from them anymore.

nancerama · 20/09/2012 16:14

The part of my order that wasn't cancelled arrived today. Lovely outfit for DS and a bra that I didn't order. How did that happen???
