I've just bought my first item from TK Maxx and now I want to know more about it...

I didn't have time to browse as my two DDs were with me, but I went in for the first time yesterday and found something I'd been looking EVERYWHERE for and am very pleased. Never occurs to me to go in as it always strikes me as being full of junk.

If you think it should become a staple shop in my limited list of go-to retailers, tell me why you like it.

Or why you don't...

They never have clothes suitable for me but I love looking at the cookware stuff.

Hmmmm, it's burnt orange and oversized with elbow length sleeves and some of it is simple knit and some of it is open work crochet.....

Not really sure if that is selling it very well Grin But it's actually very unusual and looks great on, I've had lots of compliments and best of all it was £4 Grin

I got a Le Creuset casserole dish for £20, not a cast iron one sadly, but still . . .

Reiss black sequin shorts £22 reduced from £120. Since I found them I love TK Maxx. But as someone else said you need to go in often to get the good stuff. I go in twice a week. 2 pairs of Anna Sui this season sunglasses as well for £14.99 each reduced from £119.99 rrp. Good bags too.

I bought DCs some snowsuits there a few years ago, never heard of th brand just thought they were cute, animal print ones.
I resold them on eBay, used for twice what I paid for them. Apparently some designer make in Sweden/Denmark. C

I can browse the handbag section for hours, an I'm not even a handbag girl. Not so keen on the shoes but I've got boat feet so not much choice. I read on here a top tip for shopping. If you've not seen anything in the first 15 minutes, leave and go back a week later.

I'm a recent convert, got a lovely jumper in there for £12 a couple of weeks ago, also some nice kids toys. I hadn't been in there for years because I worked there for a few months in uni and it was the worst job of my life - 6 soul-destroying hours spent picking up clothes from the floor and hanging them up - I hated being in that shop with every fibre of my being.

I still don't think I'd want to go into the Brighton store.

Well Envy of ojjayi for scoring All Saints stuff!!!
I got Ralph Laurent outfits for dd & my 2 ds to wear to a family wedding. They looked like a RL advertisement.
Agree it's hit or miss. It takes dedication.

Ooh, I love their soaps. Most hand-milled, very fragrant, lovingly wrapped bars from Italy/Spain. Beats your average block of Dove. Chocs, cushions, lamps, all good.

Good for clothes, also because whatever you buy, it will be a one-off. Bought a mac for DD and she did stand out among similarly dressed children all with spotty Next jumpers...

I occasionally browse the toys for gifts
Rest of it is awful, at least locally, hate the layout, mostly unheard of brands with random sizing

Love tkmaxx. Have recently bought a lovely coat and cardigan in there, plus some very nice photo frames. It is very good for purses and bags.

We have a TKMaxx and a Homesense in town.

I love Homesense.
They set the stock out so it looks "exclusive" IYSWIM. They might have 1 or 2 of an item but it doesn't look 'end of range'.
Everything is neat, clean and tidy. I got 2 big Lock&Lock tubs, £3 each.
I want the Hallowe'en stuff out on display now.

Many of the goods are unsaleable returns which have been worn or damaged before being washed, patched up and shipped out.

We once had a shipment of knickers with visible stains after being 'reconditioned'

Some of the goods do not meet strict standards and are not able to be sold in "company stores".

Stock is sold at 'bargain prices' which are not exactly that, many of the products are deemed worthless by other chains and they then attach a price tag and RRP of what the item would have been sold for in the highest end shop if it had meet standards and not been soiled or faulty. Tge RRP is rarely correct.

Basically they sell 'reconditioned' soiled and faulty goods, not exactly a bargain IMO.

I'm a bit wary of the RRP price but I scrupulously examine everything before buying and you really do get some bargains.

Stained knickers though???? I will be on gussett watch from now on!

given I only buy bags etc and not keks
I indeed consider it bargain
I'm not so bothered if it hooky stock.it's cheaper.

I should state this was in the older days (2003) when the store was known to sell factory rejects etc but I think its gone slightly more upmarket nowadays so not sure how relevant this is.

Peanut, I know you worked there but I have to disagree with you wrt quality and my experience of RRP is they err on the low side.

I got lovely clothes for the DCs when they were small, and a lot of shoes. Have bought bags and boots over the years, and pots and pans, blankets, sheets, towels, tights, swimwear.

I rarely find clothes for me there but do find the mens and childrens sections good. I love the accessories, homeware and toy sections best.
