Another ring thread

I have a white gold ring with 6 little diamonds. I never wear this ring and rather than have it sitting in a box, I would like to have the stones set into my wedding ring (plain, platinum band). Is it possible to have this done, once a ring has actually been made or do stones have to added as during the process of making a ring?

If it is possible, does anyone have an idea of what it would cost, roughly, given that I already have the ring and the diamonds?

The ring is sentimental to me (present from dh), so I really like the idea of being able to incorporate it into my wedding ring.
