I love very strong, heady, long lasting perfumes.I love orientals or chypres. A few of my all time favourites are-

Samsara-guerlain
Knowing-estee lauder
Agent provacateur
Boudoir-vivienne westwood

But I want something completely new to be my new every day autumn scent. I have plenty of high street shops and chemists on my door stop-oh and my budget is £50 max!

Thanks!

I love Thierry Mugler and specifically Angel but DH has bought me a massive bottle of Alien so will try and use that up this winter even though I find it personally awful.

I love the quality of his perfumes though, absolutely wonderful stuff.

jumpingjackamo · 14/09/2012 13:14

They are definitely strong and long lasting.

zombiewalker · 14/09/2012 13:56

My winter perfume is armani code it always makes me feel christmasy for some reason and its very longlasting and strong you only need a little

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/09/2012 16:29

I like the Clarins one in the red bottle - it smells all spicy and Christmas-day-ish.

Orientals are some of my favorite perfumes but it's not easy to find good high street versions these days. Coco and Angel (also try A*men! many women prefer it to Angel) and Shalimar (also try the pink and blue versions) and Cinema by YSL and Hypnotic Poison by Dior are the only decent ones that quickly come to my mind in addition to what you already know.

Do you know Aromatics Elixir by Clinique?
If you are into classic chypres, do you know Mitsouko?
And if you like Knowing, have you dared to try Chanel No 19? (the Poudré version is also okay) or Nahema by Guerlain.

You should Really explore Serge Lutens - he has transformed orientals and Ambre Sultan is one of the most magnific orientals ever made (samples on eBay). Not something you will encounter on lots of other people. Douce Amere is addictive too.

Another great house to explore is L'Artisan Parfumeur. Dzing and Safran Troublant are my fall favorites - they go sometimes on sale, worth checking their website.

I would recommend any oudh based fragrance but they are over budget.
Am wearing Diors Oud Ispahan right now with sheepskin leather boots (cold rainy day today) and they are a match made in heaven.

Finally, the Ambre scent at Yves Rocher is cheap and quite classy.

I wear either Calvin Klein Euphoria, Lancôme Hypnose or Armani Code in the Autumn/Winter. All quite heady scents without being overpowering. CK Truth is nice too.

I also like Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, but find it too heavy for Spring/Summer, so that might be nice at this time of year?

I wear Pomegranate Noir from Jo Malone. It's lush.

racingheart · 14/09/2012 17:38

Have you ever tried Amazone by Hermes? Not a great idea as I've just googled it and it's a vintage perfume, starting at £70 odd, but it's heavenly if you like orientals and chypres. Great Christmas present.

Also Opium by YSL - a real classic spicy perfume.
And I second Mitsouko - another lovely spicy oriental perfume.

If it wasn't for your budget I would say Penhaligon's Malabah. It is wonderful.

FermezLaBouche · 14/09/2012 18:09

Lola by Marc Jacobs is lovely!

CaptainHoratioWragge · 14/09/2012 18:18

Boudoir is my absolute favourite, i've warn it non stop for years.
Although it is quite floral, I wear it year round rather than just in the summer

CaptainHoratioWragge · 14/09/2012 18:19

worn not warn!

DreamsTurnToGoldDust · 14/09/2012 18:24

Im a Jo Malone and Penhaligons fan, just about to buy the new JM Bluebell, guess that might be more spring tho! Grin

Eliza22 · 14/09/2012 19:12

I love Tresor by Lancôme but I have to say, it settles differently on me and doesn't smell like that on anyone I've ever smelt it o. When asked frequently "what're you wearing, it's lovely?" people are a bit "oh, it doesn't smell the same on me".

Also, like Paul Smith Rose.

Pinkforever · 15/09/2012 17:06

Thanks for the reccomendations ladies!

I have bought Mitsouko before but it was the eau de toilette and I could only get a faint whiff of peach/oakmoss from it-is the eau de parfum a lot better?

I do like Shalimar but find it a tad too citrusy at the start-I detest citrusy perfumes. Ditto aromatics elixir-smelled it on others and its lovely but on me was a bit meh...

Have never ever tried armani code even though I have heard good things about it so will be testing that one!

Funnily enough I tried Hypnotic poison last week in debenhams and really liked it-only thing that out me off was that it dried down to a very strong vanilla-perhaps not complex enough?

Have got a couple that I am goign to try out now before I make my final choice! thanks....

how do I order the online sample of le labo? I can't see how to on the store.

cornzy · 15/09/2012 17:18

found it now thanks Smile

Itsgottabebags · 15/09/2012 18:08

I have Poeme by Lancome and for me that's quite a 'warm' fragrance and within your budget. Also try TK Maxx for perfumes once you've decided on one as they often have perfumes/gift sets in starting around this time of year
