Please help me find a ring like this!

I have fallen for a ring, but it's way out of my price range (£28,500!!), has anyone seen anything similar, but a lot cheaper. I'd happily wear fake diamonds!

Here's a link to the Cartier ring I love:

Thanks...

check store for stock

smellylittleorange · 12/09/2012 23:33

No it's not right - you want Mrs Cumberbatch - am sure she will be along soon!

footyfan · 12/09/2012 23:57

Thanks a lot for trying - but I'm not keen on half eternity style rings. I'd really want the stones all the way round. (picky much!!)

I do have a decent budget if I can find what I want (nowhere near the 28k I need for the one above!), but as I said - I would be happy with a fake.

Commission one. If you show the picture to a jewellery maker or silversmith, they'll be able to design you something similar.

footyfan · 13/09/2012 00:38

Thanks Baroness - I hadn't thought about that - but I guess that would be pretty expensive? I'll contact someone and see if they'd give me a rough estimate. Any recommendations for reputable jewellers?

Here is another similar one I like - in case anyone has seen any cheaper knock-offs:

I'm expecting a call from a London-based jeweller tomorrow. He works with diamonds but I could ask him about costume jewellery and see if he recommends anyone. I'll PM you what he says. Or would you want diamonds, but just maybe not Cartier grade?

BaronessBomburst · 13/09/2012 01:02

And no, using a silversmith or goldsmith is not so wildly expensive. They work for themselves so you cut out all the middlemen and their commission.

footyfan · 13/09/2012 01:10

Thanks again Baroness. It would depend on cost, I guess if I was going to the trouble of commissioning it would be better to have diamonds - but if someone would go to all that trouble for costume jewellery, then I'd be happy with that too.

Not very helpful I know - I think I'd like to peruse both until I knew costs.

here?

footyfan · 13/09/2012 07:37

Thanks FauxFox, it's almost right, but it's a bit too delicate, iykwim.

(I meant pursue, not peruse ^^)

What about a local college? Students will often take on designs or commissions. Contact the Art department. And not all jewellery makers work in precious stones. You can buy all kinds of things in arts and crafts markets. I was at one a couple of weeks ago and a seller had beautiful jewellery made out of fymo and fymo beads. I've seen lots of nice jewellery made from glass too. There will definitely be a way to get the look with cheaper materials!

I'll keep looking for you anyway.

TakingTheStairs · 13/09/2012 10:20

what about this Different shaped diamonds but at least they're all the way around?

BaronessBomburst · 13/09/2012 10:22

I found this on google

footyfan · 13/09/2012 12:58

Thanks TakingTheStairs - I like it, but it's a little too traditional looking.

Baroness - thanks again!! I've tried looking online for others, but have no idea what type of ring it is. Is it a wedding band / eternity ring - what did you google?

OP posts:
BaronessBomburst · 13/09/2012 14:46

I googled 'ring leaves diamond eternity', I think. And then got distracted by DS so had to give up. :)

Try googling images only, or chucking in 'art nouveau' as that might come up with similar styles.

Ti Sento might have something like that, but I can't get the website to work. Try also Sixx and Bijoux Brigitte, or department stores like Debenhams as they usually have decent costume jewellery in silver with cubic zirkonias. I'm now being attacked by DS so can't look for you!

MrClaypole · 13/09/2012 14:51

Try ungar and ungar

smellylittleorange · 13/09/2012 20:58

If you are anywhere near Chichester these peeps are fabulous for bespoke

Timothy Roe

racingheart · 13/09/2012 22:11

some of these have a tiny bit in common with the one you like.

iloveeverton · 13/09/2012 22:24

I can't link on iPad but I second ungar and ungar.

I have a similar ring and it's stunning, get so many compliments on it. Lots of independent jewellers stock them.

BaronessBomburst · 17/09/2012 11:30

Haven't forgotten you, but jeweller still hasn't phoned. It's something DB is organising though so all I can do is sit and wait.

soaccidentprone · 17/09/2012 13:27

There's some nice jewellery here and it is fairtrade and conflict free gold and diamonds. They also do a bespoke service.

this is unusual

I love this and if I had the money I would buy it!

Good luck Smile

mrscumberbatch · 17/09/2012 13:50

Hellooo.... believe it or not I have a very similar ring that my dad made for me for my 18th. I had no idea he'd nabbed the idea from Cartier! (So thankyou!)

You could get this made fairly easily. Silver and Cubic Zirconia would be the cheapest/easiest. I'd budget about £200-£250 for the work etc to get it made up. It is a bit fiddly.

If you wanted to spend a couple of grand you could get it in white gold and diamonds.

Agreed with iloveeverton, I've seen this style in a lot of independent jewellers.

Shall have a nosey about on the off chance that I can find similar.

LtheWife · 17/09/2012 19:04

Can also recommend ungar and ungar, I have one of their floral bands as my wedding ring. Awful website but gorgeous rings, give them a call and Bernard will let you know of any local stockists (I've heard of others who have been able to get local independent jewellers to order them in too). When I got mine a couple of years ago the slimmest floral bands started around £1500 iirc.

thehairybabysmum · 17/09/2012 20:00

Not leaves but i do love this...

any good?
