Is dry shampoo harmful?

I have just got myself a large can of the Batiste dry shampoo you've all been talking about. I applied it and left it for a few minutes. When I went to brush it my hair was covered in white and so was my black cardigan. That, and the lovely smell of this dry shampoo made me think of talcum powder which is harmful if you inhale it. Is that what this product is made from?

If your hair was that white perhaps you used too much or had it too close to your head.

I found it shocking to see what I might look like if I started havng white roots :)

You brush it out until the white is gone!

Most dry shampoos have corn starch as the main active ingredient.

I heard a top stylist recommend either buying corn starch or talcum powder meant for babies (you can keep it in those metal containers used for sprinkling confectioner's sugar). Baby talk is talcum free and made of corn starch these days (true talcum can cause lung diseases).

My mother has always brushed with corn starch btw (did not know until recently that other people do that too) and is 70+ and still healthy Wink.

I am a recent convert to batiste and love he regular strength one. I tried the super Xxl one and it was way too much - very big hair and matted at the roots. The regular one didn't leave the residue.

Big hair sounds nice!
So what did I get?
it just says clean & classic original and it's a green stripey canister

I use the Brunette version - bingo! No white roots!

You need to shake it loads before use, and spray it from firther away thatn you think. Section by section, massage product in with fingers and you shouldn't have any white bits.
There is an excellent you tube video which i saw that convinced me to give it a try

Hmm sorry cannot find the exact one, am sure it was linked to from mn. But if you google dry shampoo tutorial and look at the you tube video you should find a good one.
