Does anyone use Crazy Color hair dye?

I usually use solutions but fancied a change. I'm looking for quite a deep red colour, vermillion sounds like it could be the one, but seems to look quite orangey on the pics I've found online. Burgundy is nice but looks quite purplish?

Any ideas? Thanks :)

I had dyed my hair pink, for a year. I used special effects(all dyes are semi perm)atomic pink. The pink stayed for at least 3-4 months i dyed it blonde before.

I have never dyed my hair previous to this, so it stuck more.

Im a hairdresser, i would not ever dye my hair again like that colour took 2 bleach baths and i had it highlighted.

Id go on special effects website, if your in the uk. Beeunquie is a good website.

Red is a hard colour to get out, and sometimes fades in a gingey ugly colour!

milkteef · 11/09/2012 14:45

Vermillion is a brilliant bright red. If you use two (one after each other) it deepens the colour and tones any orange out to red. It's not so much a deep red as a very bright red.

MrsMeow · 12/09/2012 09:41

Thanks both :) I only need to use a tiny bit as I just have a few red streaks at the minute. They are bright so vermillion may look ok, I might try and mix vermillion and burgundy together to get it a bit deeper :)

Xmasevebundle, tell me about it! I've been red for years but have recently had a change, it took the hairdresser ages to lift the red out with bleach, ready to dye again!

Stupid me, directions is the one I mean - not solutions (that's the name of my hairdressers haha!)

I've dyed my full head for the past couple of years with LiveXXL Red Passion, but I got fed up and have had it dyed black all over with streaks of red underneath one side. Hairdresser had to bleach it first then use a semi perm red on it, so I just wanted something to brighten it up every now & then. I used to use pillarbox or poppy red, but wanted something just a bit deeper this time. I'm not sure I'd want to rise a permanent dye over the bleached bit, but I'll def bear that in mind for when I do my full head again, so thanks :)

*Bare that in mind even Blush

Oh no, crazy colour is awful. Stargazer do a good few nice reds. :)

MrsMeow · 12/09/2012 16:42

Ooh thanks, have been looking at stargazer - I like the look of golden flame :)

OP posts:
SchrodingersMew · 12/09/2012 16:44

Ohh, golden flame is lovely I have used that a few times. I've been using Stargazer for years and it's great, needs re-done often but the colour comes out lovely. I usually used it every 3rd wash like shampoo. :) It's cheap enough that this isn't expensive to do and some of the colours last a lot longer.

I love their flamingo pink. :)

modifiedmum · 12/09/2012 16:45

Crazy colour is awful. I had bright red hair for two years up untill recently (poppy red, la riche directions) i had to bleach all my hair to get it really bright red and obv the upkeep with red hair is a pain in the arse more than anything. Had to re dye every two weeks and do roots once a month with bleach (i'm dark brown naturally) Poppy red is REALLY REALLY bright though over bleach/medium blonde hair just to say. I loved being a red head but can't go back as i'm not alllowed it in my job. Good luck!

MrsMeow · 12/09/2012 16:47

I'll give it a go then, thanks :) I like rouge as well so might get both and alternate. Why not!

MrsMeow · 12/09/2012 16:50

Thanks modifiedmum, I've used poppy red over bleach before, it looks gorgeous doesn't it? I'd love my full head bright red but don't think I'd be allowed it during my training so these few streaks are my way of rebelling subtly haha!

I'll leave the crazy colour then. I've got a tiny bit of directions poppy red left and I think some dark plum so I might finish them and then try the stargazer dye for a change :)

Meow I have just added a couple of pictures of me with various stargazer colours in my hair, just so you can see what they are typically like. The orange one was growing out though.

MrsMeow · 12/09/2012 16:56

Oh you're gorgeous! I love the cheek piercings :)

The orange looks really nice, especially as it was fading! What colour is the pink on the bottom pic? I quite like that one as well.

Ta!

SchrodingersMew · 12/09/2012 16:58

Thanks. Blush

The pink is the flamingo pink I said about before. :) It was much brighter when I first used it though.

I'll have a dig around my pictures, I might have some reds.

MrsMeow · 12/09/2012 17:01

Haha, I'm the same but I'm far too lazy with the upkeep, hence being lazy usually and using a permanent colour!

Yes, have a look if you can, I'd love to see :) my hairdresser actually got my hair pretty light with the bleach, considering how much I'd dyed it red, so the red over the top shows up pretty well. I'm quite pleased :)

beeunique is a great site, i've used them for many years. I have pictures in their gallery [red] and so does my dad [blues]

Last time I used the manic panic infrared amplified, you can see it on my profile. No bleaching in advance, it took really well. I could have kept it up with a simple reboost every 4 weeks to stop it going orange, but I let it fade out.

kellestar · 12/09/2012 17:02

my hair is normally mid brown with 15% grey

StellaAndFries · 12/09/2012 17:04

I have a pillar box red and black fringe and use La Riche Directions. I love it, a pot seems to last for ages and I'm only topping up once a week at max, whereas my red was going orangey within a couple of days using stargazer.

SchrodingersMew · 12/09/2012 17:04

Found one, ignore the photo though, it was at a festival. I'm in the middle but I know the girl on the left with the red uses Stargazer, unsure what one but could probably find out.

SchrodingersMew · 12/09/2012 17:05

Ohhh Kellestar I love that colour!

SchrodingersMew · 12/09/2012 17:11

Was that Directions? Directions does not work on my hair. :( I have a pot of blue in the wardrobe.

Yours has stayed a lovely colour. Envy

StellaAndFries · 12/09/2012 17:13

Mine? Yep it's directions, it needs a trim and reshape badly, will get it bleached then as I have über black rootage going on Grin

MrsMeow · 12/09/2012 18:04

Kellestar that colour is exactly what I'm after, thank you! it looks fantastic as well, especially with no bleaching. It took really well!

Schrodinger you look great with the red too :) and I like the green in your friends hair. Is the blue her hair or a scarf? I can't tell!

Stella you look fab, I think I've stalked your style before!! Its still a good colour despite not being fresh, directions seems to fade really quickly on my hair. I dyed DDs hair at the beginning of the hols though - she has light brown hair and we used dark plum, and there's STILL a slight pinky tinge to it now - whoops! luckily her teachers don't seem to have noticed haha!
