Lipliner?

Is lipliner something best left in the nineties?

I am trying to graduate from lipgloss to lipstick but it always just rubs off or looks a bit messy and crap when I furtively try some at makeup counters.

Was thinking lipliner might make it neater and make my lips look bigger/more defined. Do people still wear it?

It does make lipstick stay longer, definitely, and if you have even the faintest of faint lines around your mouth and/or greasy skin it stops your lipstick bleeding out of the lipline.

IMO it needs to match the lipstick, and I quite often put it over more of my lips than just the very edge, so if my lipstick rubs off a bit I am not just left with a pencil line.

I wear lipliner but I match it to my lips rather than my lipstick - that way you don't end up with a weird outline when your lipstick wears off!

I wear the clear lip line fixer from the Body Shop. it's a kinda waxy clear texture that you apply lightly round the edge of your lipline (as if you were trying to draw on bigger lips IYSWIM) then apply whatever lippy/gloss of choice. I find it stops darker colours from feathering and gloss from sliding outwards!
