Good school run coat needed - would like smart, non-frumpy parka type style

I have a job where I need to be quite smart. I also need to do the school run in the mornings and afternoons which is a half mile walk/run there and back. And I have hair that frizzes in wet weather.
So I think I would like a parka style coat, that is quite smart and good enough for work, but is not frumpy, maybe fitted at the waist, with a hood for the wet weather to save my hair do! Or something similar ...
Looking for a size 12. Prepared to spend up to £150.
Any ideas?

Try TK Maxx they have loads of coats at this time of year. I bought a Miss Sixty coat, just above the knee, womanly shaped cut with oversize removable hood for £59

I just saw this on asos ten minutes ago. I thought it looked a bit smarter and a bit more interesting than the average parka. I would buy as small a size as you can. Hate that drowned in a parka look

I think this is fabulous, but if you like it you'd better hurry as there's only one left!

UnrequitedSkink · 09/09/2012 23:47

Ooo ooh - also nice and smart. Hard to tell if it has a concealed hood though - it looks like it does but the description doesn't say.

I linked to this Aigle parka a few weeks ago which I have seen in RL and is very nice.

You need the Didriksons Rebecca parka. I got mine last week and I have never loved a coat so much!

It is a parka style, but with all the waterproof and warmth advantages of your average camping coat. However it looks very cool

It was £175 though.

Wow, I knew you lot would come up with a good selection Wink
Current favourite is the Brown parka suggested by Unrequitedskink, but difficult to tell how good the hood is. I will order it and find out!
