Ive gone and bought myself some converses but now realised that my jeans don't look right with them.

Soo.. What's the best style of jeans to wear with them?
Thanks

slim fit or skinny if you've got the right body shape..

cookielove · 09/09/2012 16:18

I have neither slim fit or skinny jeans, i wear my converse with bootleg jeans, and bootleg trousers i also were my lows with leggings and a skirt. I wore my high tops with my wedding dress Grin

i wear them with skinny, bootcut, boyfriend and straight jeans, sometimes i roll my jeans up a few times, quite like this look. My least favourite way to wear them is with my skinny jeans because i am a size 14 and i think skinnys look best with boots or heels on me.

What colour did you get? i have black ones they must be about 8yrs old now and have worn really well, i think next time i will get navy and possible white ones for the summer.

Round our way Converse are the new Barbour .
Mmmmm.....think that means they have had their day.

mamasr · 09/09/2012 17:07

i don't think coverse will ever have "had their day" they have been around for years and years... i always had them as a kid & still use them now as a "go to" shoe when i'm not working etc

JudithOfThePiece · 09/09/2012 17:15

I also don't think Converse have had their day. Although in recent years they've seen an upsurge in popularity, they've also been around for years and never been UNpopular. There are many people, myself included, who have owned a pair of one sort or another since the 80s. Perhaps some of the different colours about now are less likely to be about in ten years' time but a classic white or black pair are more of a standard.

I do think the way you wear them naturally changes a little more with fashion. At the moment, I like wearing mine with straight leg jeans, often longer ones with turn-ups. However, I also like wearing them with boyfriend jeans, too.

perplexedpirate · 09/09/2012 17:27

I like them with slim fit or boot leg, though I haven't worn my boot cut jeans for yonks. also low tops with leggings.

Oh, and I too wore mine with my wedding dress. Grin

Imlostwithoutahope · 09/09/2012 19:34

Mine are a royal blue colour, the hi tops. I wanted navy but couldn't find any round by me and had to have them that day :)

I bought a pair of boyfriend jeans to wear them together but I don't know why it looks odd. Maybe it's because I don't normally wear boyfriend jeans and to me they seemed too baggy! I have a pair of straight and boot cuts so I'll try it with those instead. I have skinnies too but I have skinny legs and big feet so feel I'll look like a clown if I wear them that way.

In my neck of the woods (se london) converse and skinnies is ubiquitous m class mum wardrobe! But I think they're timeless and easy and I like them so not a problem! Personally only wear then with skinnies as ally jeans are skinny (my style rut) but don't see why other styles wouldn't look good... An excuse to treat yourself to some new jeans maybe

mamaonion · 09/09/2012 20:08

I mean all my jeans not ally jeans - darned phone

mamaonion · 09/09/2012 20:10

Ah just read you have skinny legs- me too and used to worry about golf club look- but I think you'll get used to it and it's a confidence thing- I have size 7 feet!

JudithOfThePiece · 09/09/2012 20:25

Mamaonion - can I just ask, do you wear hi tops with your skinnies? I also have size 7 feet and that's why I've always stuck with straight leg rather than go the whole hog with skinny. I have very skinny legs below the knee but quite large thighs and bottom, so it's a parsnip issue too really.

mamaonion · 11/09/2012 19:41

Hmmm no I have the shoe kind (sorry lacking terminology - low tops?!) and dont feel self conscious in them- I'm size ten so legs at top not too curvy but I would have thought maybe curvier hips and thighs might balance out skinny calves? If you check out other laydeez you might realise it looks fine :)

JudithOfThePiece · 12/09/2012 20:43

I couldn't think what they were called, either!!

Thanks for that. Will surreptitiously observe other skinnies and converse wearers and decide whether my bum is too big or not.

dreamofwhitehorses · 12/09/2012 20:50

to the skinnies go inside or or outside the high tops?

dreamofwhitehorses · 12/09/2012 20:50

*do

JeuxDEnfants · 12/09/2012 20:54

Converse will never have their day... At least not in my world :)
