Any pastel summers out there?
Went for my colours day today and loved it; just wondering if there are any others out there with 'my' colours?
Any other summers of any other 'type' either?
Would love some tips from those who have trod the summery path before me.

I'm getting mine done on Thursday....soooo excited. Any advice, anything I should know/bring/ask? Are you happy with your diagnosis - did you expect to be a summer?

cardoon I loved the day - was v happy with the diagnosis, despite expecting to be a winter. No advice really - except don't wear make up or fake tan on the day. Duh, just seen seventh post the same thing. Think it'll take me a while to 'get my eye in' but I'm really looking forward to going through my clothes and make up tomorrow. Enjoy thursday cardoon

I am a mid -summer, which sounds like what your consultant described as a pastel summer. Soft , muted colours like the palette of a Monet painting was how it was described to me.I am wearing colours I never would have considered before and have ditched almost all of my black.

Kettlewell colours is worth a look but it is expensive.

The biggest thing for me has been lipstick. Apparently summers do not look "finished" without lipstick and having spent a fortune on lipsticks that just don't suit me over the years I bought a pink, a red and a plum at my consultation. I don't wear them every day but when I do I always look healthier and brighter somehow.

I had a look at kettlewell and will be ordering a few things purely because where else can you get such a range of colours? My ** colours are pink beige, dusty pink, lavender, lilac etc etc. Went shopping yesterday and couldn't find a thing in those colours
I totally agree regarding the importance of lipstick. I look a million times better with the right lipstick and my lips are invisible without it too.
Can't come to terms with the idea of navy mascara. Or replacing my black eyeliner with grey. Yet the HoC booklet says you have to get your make up right as your first priority, so I guess I'd better try them. Maybe it's one of those things that I just need to get used to.

Scarves are a great starting place - you can also usually find your 'colours' on ebay more easily as things are not so tied to the fashion colours de jour as on the high street

I'm thinking of having my colours done. Did you go with somebody or on your own? I mentioned it to DM and DMIL (who are constantly badgering me to wear more colourful stuff) and they both want to have a go, but now I feel like I'd rather do it on my own.

I have another question (sorry for hijacking your thread madmomma).
Do you have to carry your swatches round whenever you go shopping or do you now know what suits you? And how do you find the right colours, given that UK shops only seem to stock colours that are fashionable.

I'm a deep summer :)

After about a year you can usually just- 'see' the colours and understand your season - I'm a soft Autumn but for summer would probably put in my ** colours and scarf:) Blends of colours are good to start with as they can pull togther an outfit

I carry my colors on my iPhone. Here, Light Summer.

Issimma don't do navy mascara . Nobody should. Pick your natural eyelash color and deepen it. Black brown is fine on me. A big discovery for me was that light gray, silver and cool taupe accentuate my eyes much better than black eyeliner.

I hate pastels. Am not a sweet pea person. Reached a happy compromise by picking the brightest and most jewel-like colors on my palette. Often tone them down with some smoky blue or camel. Oh and cognac brown is on my palette too and many Summers can wear a deep dark chocolate brown. I still wear black often and feel good in it but don't do black and white (too high contrast - my natural colors are low contrast).

I won't leave the house without lipstick and blusher. Not all cosmetics ranges do good cool tones - worth testing and going round before committing. I bought a lipstick from the color consultant, it was awful quality, I went to the counters and matched it (Chanel Coco Rouge Satin perfect match).

I am just about to book a session. However I am rather tanned at the moment (not fake) would this be a problem?

I had mine done on Saturday as well and am a summer too, but a brown summer (?!). My consultant found me quite difficult to place and I'm struggling to get to grips with it all as I always thought I was kind of warm skinned and that cream really suited me
I do really like the summer colours but have never gone in for buying lots of pink/blue/pastel clothes - I like neutrals. Happy to jack in the black though.

The friend I went with has already been shopping with her little wallet of colours (has no kids ) and reported back that it all made a lot more sense once she'd tried some stuff on.

It's a lot to get your head around isn't it... the idea of wearing at least 3 colours is totally alien for starters.

The thing about 'low-contrast' completely makes sense though Dona.
