Anyone bought any nice ones recently? I can't seem to find any decent ones....I can no longer wear jeans so have decided wide leg trousers are the way forward.

You are ahead of the curve. Apparently wide trousers are the way things are going, trouserwise, in fashion land. I haven't bought any, though I am looking at Toast wide leg jeans.

steben · 07/09/2012 08:38

I will take a look to be honest I am utterly thrilled they are coming back I do not have a figure which is flattered by skinny jeans Grin I will try and post some links (am on phone) later to ones I have seen on sale which are what I am after but completely sold out!

I am watching with interest. Love wide leg trousers but have really struggled to find any recently.

notjustamummythankyou · 07/09/2012 10:41

They're coming back?! Woohoo! I'll be in fashion for once.

niminypiminy · 07/09/2012 13:55

Now I can do links see this article about the return of the wide-legged trouser. Asos currently has this selection - and at the other end of the price spectrum, toast has some good, if expensive, ones.

I hate wide legged trousers.....give me skinnies any day :)

Startailoforangeandgold · 07/09/2012 15:37

No! NO! NO!!!

I'm broad of hip and large of arse, narrow of shoulder and small of boob.

Skinnyish jeans, long top and long boots I can cope with. Boot cut jeans and mum boots are fine.

But wide legged trousers please, please no.

I look like a cube, from the waist down.

I'm not slim enough (16) to tuck things in and very short in the body. With narrow shoulders and as I say not much nork, no top works. Nothing distracts from the "why the hell is she wearing those stupid flappy trousers" look.

are wide leg as in flared jeans coming back?

101handbags · 07/09/2012 15:57

You are indeed ahead of the fash pack. This was in last week in The Guardian mag Jess Cartner Morley. There were some nice examples in the magazine, including a pair of brown wool check ones from Next which I bought a couple of months ago.

kikidee · 07/09/2012 18:25

Gap do a wide leg trouser in their perfect trouser range. My current work trousers but only available in black at the moment although I've seen them do different colours in the past. Mango used to do a lot of wide leg trousers that were very long in the leg (if that's a requirement) but I haven't been in there for ages.

MouseyHousey · 07/09/2012 21:32

I got some plum coloured wide legs in Next a couple of weeks ago.. probably not to everyones taste and I dont usually like coloured trousers but I love them!

Am pleased they are coming back, but what do we do about shoes/boots? Especially in the winter when ballet flats won't do.

steben · 16/09/2012 08:43

The shoe thing is an issue but I would stick with flats or heels unless it is snowing! Currently pregnant so longing to get ack to heels - and indeed anythng that will give me a waist!!!

What about plimsoles like Katherine Hepburn?

DonaAna · 16/09/2012 08:49

Yoox summer sale has some amazing ones - got a pair of beige poplin ones from there and am waiting for a few pairs in black wool from Outnet.
The ones I see a lot are very long so you can wear nearly any shoes - courts, wedges, black ankle boots (yes you can wear youe mum boots with them) or even brogues.

Fuckitthatlldo · 16/09/2012 08:58

Those Kookai ones are nice. I had a fantastic pair of wide legged jeans from Kookai that lasted years - the denim was excellent quality and they had a really nice high waist that I found really flattering. I know everyone goes on about how high waisted trousers are difficult to wear, but I think they hide a multitude of sins.

Am really quite tempted by those Kookai ones considering the mark down. And they don't have the weird, French sizing that I can't work out when buying them online. Kookai stuff is often good actually.

sinkyroselee · 16/09/2012 09:27

I like the idea of them, but find getting the length right impossible. I've a pair from French connection aons ago. Unfortunately I hemmed them so they swing too high in heels and drag on the ground in flats.

I think the crux is the shoe choice, and I just don't get it right!
