What sort of shoes would you wear with this dress?

Just bought this dress to wear as a bridesmaid at a wedding in early November.

Wedding is all in one venue, so no need to go outside, I'll be carrying a teal bag, with a teal pashmina and hair flower thingie.

No idea what sort of shoes to go for - black, obviously - but want some that aren't too high as I'm over 6' tall, and fit with the overall 'flapper'ish look. Has anyone seen a pair that would go?

Also, my friend thinks I should wear black tights with it - I think that would look darned odd and was just going to go with skintoned ones - any thoughts on that appreciated!

Black tights would look VERY odd with short sleeves, you are right! Will have a look for shoes and get back, price?

Hi there, yes black tights is a big no no.
Bridesmaids shoes are unlikely to be worn again so don't spend a lot, but black is easier to match than teal.

as a mum I am worried you won't be warm enough! hee hee

These would work with flapper look, look quite comfy too! Don't love them, but would work. These look a bit better, but not as comfy for all day,Not quite as flappery, but flat, Excellent, very cheap AND flat.

Thank you very much!! I knew I was right about the tights Grin

I'm really liking the kind of 'grown up mary jane' thing - especially the Carvella ones. I don't want to ruin an expensive dress with cheap shoes, if that doesn't sound too snobby - I'd rather spend a bit more. And I could do with a new pair of black evening shoes :) Thanks, Orange

kweggie the venue is going to be all roaring log fires and heating on so hopefully I'll be ok! I have a black satin evening coat I can wear if I really do get cold Grin

Don't stand too close to the fires in your floaty dress! (lol worrit worrit worrit...)

I wore these my lovely shoes with actual heels recently. They were fabulously comfortable.

I had a picture in mind as soon as I saw your dress and it was the first one in OrangeHorraces link. With skin coloured tights, not black.

OrangeHorraceTheGoldenOtter · 07/09/2012 16:26

Ooh glad you like! Carvella are usually lovely to wear, not to pinchy iyswim. Have fun Smile

Callisto · 07/09/2012 16:28

That dress is lovely. Lucky you being able to wear an attractive bridesmaids dress.

noddyholder · 07/09/2012 16:34

Love the dress!

CollectorOfCookbooks · 07/09/2012 17:47

Thanks everyone, I have returned, footsore and happy, with these little beauties. Completely not what I was expecting, but look lovely with the dress!

The ones with the straps just made me look chopped off at the ankles Grin

Ooh they're pretty Chris, I saw quite a few like that, but thought I needed more of a delicate heel. Having said that, I'll probably keel over halfway down the aisle now.
