Dh, who used to own a couple of hairdressing salons (a man of many parts, he is), is convinced that I get myself into trouble with hairdressers because I don't tip. But they have to do it right in order for me to want to tip them, fgs. Plus I don't see the need to tip 'em when their prices are already outrageous. 30 smackers for something that wasn't what I asked for. Meh.

bigTillyMint · 27/09/2012 19:59

Have booked up for Sat - will PM you all the details!

bigTillyMint · 27/09/2012 20:08

Could you just confirm that you got my PM as it wouldn't work when I tried to just click on message poster - not sure why???

beachyhead · 27/09/2012 22:18

I got your PM and I will see you there.

On hairdressers, I was there this morning and I think it's fair to say, whatever I ask for, I get the SAME F*ING haircut as I got last time..... I take in pictures, ideas, everything, but NO.... the same haircut I got last time.....

One day I'll ask for a purple mohican just to see....

And I got a good spraying of liquid wax, not physically possible, is it?

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/09/2012 22:33

Oh yes, Beachy, so do I. That "Over 40s Mullet" - curl under the chin and flicky uppy longer layer underneath. It's currently more of a bob, but I still have that bastard longer underneath layer sneakily peeking out in all of its greying glory.

CointreauVersial · 27/09/2012 22:44

PM received - thanks BTM. I must peruse the rail timetables and plan my trip to the Big City. What time does the actual meet-up kick off?

I am off for a night out in Croydon tomorrow night, with about 15 colleagues, courtesy of one of our suppliers at work. It could get messy....

S&B News - I had a great haul from the BHF Charity Shop yesterday - a brand new deep yellow H&M cardi (unworn), a grey & white Monsoon cotton top, a fluffy grey M&S angora jumper, and a smart black & white Kaliko jumper - all for £17. Well chuffed.

Less successfully, I ordered four pairs of trousers from the Next Sale, in an effort to replace my slightly-worse-for-wear grey work pair. They arrived today....and they are all brown. Not quite sure how that happened. Brown and horrible they were.

beachyhead · 27/09/2012 23:12

7.30 to 8pm I think, so plenty of time for a glass at Browns beforehand.....

Blackduck · 28/09/2012 08:26

£30 Stropps! I never pay more than £15 (and it shows they all mutter... :) )
However, I have very fine hair which dries quicker than they can cut it so no paying for blowdrys here! I have a short, relatively unstyled crop and it pisses me off that I pay more than dp for essentially the same service....

TGIF - week from hell....you know it's bad when you start avoiding reading emails!!

TheReturnOfStropperella · 28/09/2012 09:32

Sorry to hear you have had a crap week, BD. Hope things start looking up soon.

Re: haircut price - about £13 pound of that was for the blowdry I didn't want. I think I was more cross with myself than anything else. I thought I had made it clear what I wanted but I obviously hadn't and then I weedily sat there and gave in. I'll be going elsewhere and just asking for a standard wet cut next time.
Prices round here are pretty steep for everything. It's that kind of place these days (was not always the case). Not as bad as the SE, but having spent the rest of his life in Scotland or NW England, dh is still - after nearly a decade here - moaning about what a rip-off everything is down South. Grin

motherinferior · 28/09/2012 10:04

Well, in the latest thrilling update in my work saga (because I know you're all gripped, obvs) is that now they want me there till the end of December. (On a slightly less poxy low rate than they were trying to pay me before.) This is broadly a Good Thing but I don't know whether I'm coming or going...

Blackduck · 28/09/2012 11:15

More money and work til christmas - can't be bad, can it?

motherinferior · 28/09/2012 11:17

Zackly.

I am going to Aldi to buy Beer Grin as am Working from Home.

Blackduck · 28/09/2012 11:50

Crepeys any recommendations for a good factual book on boys bodies (willies etc, and maybe sex etc) that I can get ds? He is 9 so the puberty ones seem a bit advanced yet, but he could do with some practical info :)

Cremolafoam · 28/09/2012 12:02

We have a good one at home, BD - will look for it later.

bigTillyMint · 28/09/2012 12:12

Is it the rafina ruffle? You can't wear a shrug with that - it will hide the sleeves!

Blackduck · 28/09/2012 12:16

Thanks BTM - how's ds and the grazing?

bigTillyMint · 28/09/2012 13:16

Oh yes, must update on that - they put Duoderm plasters on at the hospital which he was complaing about being very itchy, so he took them off last night. Amazing! The skin is completely healed and dry (not perfectly back to normal, but no scabs) Hooray!

And he is playing for the school team tonight against our rival comp - come on DS's school!Smile

oldqueenie · 28/09/2012 18:19

lazy link my crepey friends to me RANTING about my experiences at the hands of Liberty's appalling service..... ranting this way....

oldqueenie · 28/09/2012 18:25

will take a break from my very passive aggressive furious emailing with the woman at Liberty to say TGIF indeed... MI and Cremola that all sounds like a more hopeful end to your weeks....
Have bought lovely stripy jumper in Whistles with 25% off voucher in Grazia and plan on wrapping myself up in it til say March... will try and find a pic.

oldqueenie · 28/09/2012 18:29

cosy!

bigTillyMint · 28/09/2012 18:33

Sorry MI - missed you r work news - congrats! Hope the beer's good. I'm saving myself for tomorrow as I am on gym pick up as DH is out on the beers tonight!

DS's school won 10-2Grin - at least something the school is doing right!

TheReturnOfStropperella · 28/09/2012 19:11

Nice jumper, oldqueenie.

MI, see, they do value you really. Grin Any chance they may get rid of some of your GYCs and keep you on after Christmas as well?

BTM, am v. Envy of you (and CV, Ruby and Beachy) going to the meetup. Glad to hear your ds has healed so quickly. Magic Duoderm, eh? I have made a note.

I got some supposedly slim-fit ankle length cords from Lands End. The smallest size is too big for me (but it is a v. generous size 10) and they look like my dad's gardening trousers. They are going back. I got a navy shirt as well, and according to my HoC colour chart I should be able to wear this colour. But it makes me look like the undead, so I think that better go back too. So that was a waste of postage. Bah. I shall have to go back to doing my shopping in Miss Selfridge. Grin (Well at least their trousers fit me)

oldqueenie · 28/09/2012 19:41

thank you kindly stropps! But what about my curtains??

TheReturnOfStropperella · 28/09/2012 20:40

Weeeell, it does sound as though you should give up on Libertys Grin
