Snap BD Grin Well, almost - I am Envy as I wish I hadn't bought that cardi last year when they only had it in dark grey, as grey is apparently something I should avoid according to the HoC lady. Still, I shall wear it when I am depressed on cold winter evenings and shall shuffle around looking like a mournful elderly hippo. Whilst you are looking creamily glam Grin

Now I need some sizing advice: for the first time ever (and this is, to my mind, clearly a sign of ageing) I have seen some things I like in the Lands' End catalogue . What is their sizing like? I am sooo fed up with scrutinizing the so-called "size guides" on these websites, measuring myself carefully and then ordering what really ought to fit according to the guide - and then finding it is far too big.

CointreauVersial · 18/09/2012 13:19

Nice, BD, I have a similar one (but M&S Indigo from last year).

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/09/2012 13:22

Oh BD, I see the cream is out of stock. Maybe you have that cardi in grey, in which case I am sure you look v. lovely in it unlike me (it doesn't help that it comes down to my knees Grin ).

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/09/2012 15:06

I have a button phobia so those large buttons on that cardigan would probably push me over the edge. Grin Strops, why don't you get a nice cheery long scarf to wear with your grey cardie to cover up the buttons brighten it up a bit? (Please do not all wear them to the next meet up, or I will have to sit at another table.)

Lands End sizing - if you call the very nice ladies, they will tell you the exact measurements of whatever it is you want to order, Strops. I find their sizing generally on the generous side, but if you buy something where the fit is described as "close to body" or something like that, it generally is. I bought a mac in the sale on there in desperation which is two one size too big. I thought that would be fine, as I could wear it over a suit, but you could get me, the DDs and the cats under this bloody mac and still have room for the suit. And the stuff never wears out. I have some T shirts that are about 18 years old and still going strong.

Blackduck · 18/09/2012 15:35

Stropps I have it in the charming named 'wet slate', but I am a sucker for grey :) I hope I don't look too depressing/depressed in it! It also comes to my knees...
Re Lands End - agree with MrsS - find their stuff on the large side

Blackduck · 18/09/2012 15:36

chamingly

FFS blackduck.....

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/09/2012 15:38
Grin

Thank you Mrss - so that means if they say the trousers are slim fit I should probably go for my normal size. Hmm. I think I shall call them. However, I am not quite convinced that I can buy from them because if I order online my finger might slip or something and I might end up with these , which would be ... upsetting.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/09/2012 15:39

Darn it, BD, I could have sold you mine for a tenner Grin

Blackduck · 18/09/2012 16:09

Now she tells me....

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/09/2012 16:31

Oh I have those comfy trousers, Strops... I AM JOKING... Grin

I just snatched DD2's chocolate from her and ran down the hall with her in hot pursuit. I caught my sleeve on the door handle and ripped it off (sleeve not door handle). Blush That will teach me to take candy from my baby.

How's this for middle-aged thrills. Put at favourite gardens today, and came upon the filming of celebrity great british bake off! I saw Saint Mary of Berry! And the silver fox himself! And went right into the portals of both the main tent and the judging gazebo! And I saw Mel! And bob Mortimer!

In other news, my MP's office phoned the passport office to chase! Things are looking promising...

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/09/2012 18:01

hahahahaha Grin

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/09/2012 18:04

My cackling was @ MrsS Grin

I don't watch the great british bake off. Or any cookery shows. But I did hear Mary Berry on Desert Island Disks and she seemed like a v. good sort. Wouldn't recognize her in the street, though.

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/09/2012 18:05

Discs. Duh.

bigTillyMint · 18/09/2012 18:21

Just caught up!

BD, we have a 9-13 boys mountain bike ready to be sold on.... Smile

Stropps, I have a self-knitted cardi very similar to that

MrsS, DD has a button phobia too, though she is fine wearing school shirts now. It started as soon as she could express a dislike of buttons and she still doesn't choose to buy anything with buttons. And LOL!

Herbs Envy Did you get to taste anything?!

BTM - sadly no. I did loiter rather obviously, in the hope they needed some volunteers, but I was pretty roundly ignored. I did however find a tea towel on the ground - complete with stain - which I took home to frame.

Not a big fan of Mr Hollywood, think he's a bit arrogant, but was taken aback to see him smoking! A fag! That's got to play merry hell with your pallette, I'd have thought...

bigTillyMint · 18/09/2012 18:37

Awww Cremola - it's so lovely that your dad misses your mum - hope DH will feel like that when we are older and greyer (actually, he's already grey even though he;s 4 yrs younger than me, and I haven't go any grey hairs!)

But stressful for you, of course. Good luck with your job hunting!

bigTillyMint · 18/09/2012 18:38

Herbs Grin at the teatowel with stain!

But I have to confess that the thought of PH smoking doesn't completely repulse me...!

CointreauVersial · 18/09/2012 19:44

Button phobia?? I've heard everything now.

Cremola - sod the low carbing and eat a doughnut.

herbaceous · 18/09/2012 19:47

My first boyfriend had a phobia of buttons. I thought he was being a ridiculous gaylord. But it would seem it's a 'thing'.

bigTillyMint · 18/09/2012 19:48

CV, do NOT scoff at button phobia. I know at least 3 adults (including MrsS) with it. And you wouldn't believe how many clothes have buttons on as decoration!

I am fuming. A blardy fox has chewed my newish Seasalt strappy top. I can't even mend it because he has swallowed a bite. WTF was he thinking, chewing a crepeys new top????

bigTillyMint · 18/09/2012 19:49

Gaylord???? Herbs, wash your mouth out Shock!!!

TheReturnOfStropperella · 18/09/2012 19:53

BTM, what? A fox ate your top? See, you don't get any of that stuff out in the countryside. Them reynards are too busy eating rabbits to snarf people's clothes. Grin

bigTillyMint · 18/09/2012 20:14

Yes, my corner of London is rife with urban foxes. And they have no shame - they sit and play, etc in our tiny back garden and look me in the eye when I stare at them from the kitchen. They even used to play on the trampoline. Actually, maybe they chewed it in annoyance because we took down the trampoline and the "developer" behind has taken down the wall behind our garden.... How can you get rid of them? They are protected, aren't they?
