Spanx or similar - which brand and style are best?

I have a very nice, but tight and clingy knee length dress.

I had DS2 4 months ago, and am within 4 lb of my pre-pregnancy weight (when this dress looked nice), but my tummy is rather rounded and poking out.

So, I need good pants. I am not bothered about lifting or flattening my bottom (though that would be nice) - my priority is to flatten my tummy. I bought some 2 for £9.50 M&S control pants, but they just push teh fat upwards and leave me with a foll on fat where the pants stop on the waist.

Recoomendations please! And should I size down/up/stay my normal size (a 10-12)?

For one wear, get Primark ones and size down. I bought Spanx ages ago when I was a real fatty and they were awful, they have a seam right up the middle so are glaringly obvious under anything vaguely clingy.

I had the Spanx that were thigh length and went up to underneath my boobs so kept any fat rolls in place. I really liked them but they are a bugger when you need the loo but my tum was flat so worth the effort.

I have the same spanx as sugarice by the sound of it - the higher power spanx. I think they're great, knock spots off any others I have tried.

Cheers for the spanx higher power suggestion - would you size up/down/the same? I will definitely give them a try.

fuckity - I will probably wear them a few times (will obviously wash in between wears), so I am happy to invest.

There is a funny size chart for spanx which goes on weight/height - I'd say it is fairly accurate although if you are on the border I would size down rather than up.

I really like my Spanx. I've had them a few years now and they're still working fine, so they've been a good investment. They go right up to under your boobs so help to smooth out the podge rather than place it somewhere else (it helps if you have a DP or someone to pull them right up at the back and tuck them under you bra) I find them quite comfortable for an evening out, but wearing them all day and all evening as a bridesmaid for my SIL was a bit if a challenge! They have a flap in the gusset (urgh, hate that word!) for when you need to wee, so don't worry about that element.

I should add these are the ones I have. Lovely aren't they? Grin

H&M's ones are very good and not at all uncomfortable.
PRimark has good stuff but the pants had a hole in on second wear!!!

Thanks all. I have ordered the super power ones that have been suggested. Hopefully they will do the job! DP will no doubt be in fits when I ask him to hoik up my pants and tuck them under my bra.

Happy My DH hates that particular job! Grin

Just coming back to say that I LOVE the higher power spanx! Thanks for the recommendation. I am super pleased with the fit and I feel all held in and smoothed.
