Boyfriend jeans - keep or chuck?

I have a pair of Topshop boyfriend jeans that are about seven years old. I tended to wear them with a vest and rolled-up ankles in summer, but didn't wear them at all last summer since I was pregnant. What's the feeling about boyfriend jeans these days? I think they look a bit rubbish when the hems are down, and can't imagine how they'd look good styled for A/W. If anyone has found a way to wear these that looks brilliant, please let me know!
(I'm 5'2 and size 8). Otherwise, they're going to the charity shop.

Many thanks!

Still very much worn by stylish women in Italy, ankles rolled up.
For me they would be a classic summer item.

Iwannamovenow · 05/09/2012 10:49

Definately keep them for next summer.

Thanks Dona, I do think they look great in summer, but I live in Ireland and we don't bloody well get summers here! Nevertheless, maybe I'll hold on to them. Can I ask - what do stylish Italians tend to wear with them? Sandals and a cross body bag, that kind of thing?

Have you seen the do you tuck thread? Worth looking at as there is a video of Wendy's lookbook and she has 4 different styles Smile

What about converse, tshirt and blazer?

DonaAna · 05/09/2012 10:58

Sandals and a cross-body bag Wink
And denim-on-denim is never wrong in Italy.

Also saw a very artfully distressed pair of converse (think spray-painted with mud) worn with boyfriends here.

regname - that would indeed be my default way to wear, but then what do you do about the cold ankles? I know bare ankles are cute well into autumn, but once again...

I have some topshop ankle socks with frilly edge Blush they come in lots of colours? 3 for £8 I think?

regnamechange · 05/09/2012 11:13

Or ankle boots?

IShallPracticeMyCurtsey · 05/09/2012 11:49

I don't think I could pull off the ankle boots with boyfriend jeans look. Am not quite fashion enough, though have seen some people do it admirably!
I will just put them away until next summer, and continue to be deluded that there actually will be a summer - one of these years.

I despair of the weather in the UK but take the approach that I refuse to wear autumn clothing all year round so just layer up in season appropriate colours!

I think they look great worn with converse - either roll them up to the same length you would with sandals or just one turn up sitting slouching on the top of your shoe (this only looks good on the slim though). Wear with fitted vests and cardigans or shorter length tunics which just sit at the same height as your waistband (to avoid frumpsville).

I wear mine with brogues and cashmere socks....can't be doing with cold feet...
