Ankle Boots - it's no good, I can't contain it anymore...

I know loads of people here love them, but I think they are super-shiiiitt.

There. I have spoken the heresy aloud. And I feel much better for it.

I just want to know if I'm alone on this one. They make me think of 80s cowboy boots with the tops lopped off. Christ, I even hate the Acne ones. Just look at 'em (real and imitation):

Urgh. Not for me. Never. Ever. Unless I am in a nursing home and someone else is dressing me, by which time I probably won't care.

You're right NaiceSpam my disgust caused me to malign all suede knee high boots when what I actually mean is these monstrosities.

noddyholder · 05/09/2012 16:31

I hate those stretchy boots from several years ago hideous things

dexter73 · 05/09/2012 16:39

I have a pair of those stretchy boots that have been living in the drawer under my bed for several years now. I really ought to get rid of them but I bet they will be back in fashion soon!

noddyholder · 05/09/2012 16:49

They were like tights with heels Grin They'll be back

dexter73 · 05/09/2012 16:51

Mine were from Marks! They are faux suede Grin!!

squoosh · 05/09/2012 16:52

I really do not think stretchy suede knee high boots are a laughing matter.

Shame on you both!

The good thing from this thread is everyone has their own tastes. While I've cringed at some links I'm happy to be in my studded edgy mum boots Grin

Agree on the stretchy boots though! Not one for me.

LastnightDNAruinedmylife · 05/09/2012 18:45

See, stretchy boots were good about 15 years ago, I had a fab block heeled, square toed pair from Pied a Terre, it's unlikely they'll be getting another outing in the next 15 years, if I wore them as I did then I would be channelling a gone to seed, party-girl hooker, not so good on a nearly 40 year-old.

I'm sporting a lovely pair of midnight blue suede Jalouse today with an APC cord skirt & grey opaques (well I was this morning, late burst of heat has necessitated complete outfit change - damn you chilly mornings - I get too excited) & they look GREAT.

I am slim of leg & long of foot though.

Also have a pait of tan Belstaff Agnes lace up brogue boots that have been worn to death & look fantastic with everything.

Am firmly in the ankle boot camp, knee-highs are looking distinctly unappealing at the moment - although I did see these beauts, I could probably be swayed (suede....)

Caerlaverock · 05/09/2012 18:48

Ash boots are the new fly boots, next year everyone will be be making mum boot jokes about them

LastnightDNAruinedmylife · 05/09/2012 18:52

Oh & School Gate Style is quite special, thanks for the link, I am now going to spend a happy evening pouring over the quite stunning recommendations.

LastnightDNAruinedmylife · 05/09/2012 18:53

You may have a point Caer, however, they do have a lovely profile, I'm all about the profile - Fly always looked like a clumpy piece of shit.

ggirl · 05/09/2012 18:54

What boots do you wear ovariantryst?

I need to know

regnamechange · 05/09/2012 19:23

Ash boots. Now those I do need

FrancesFarmer · 05/09/2012 19:24

Pippa's style is just so irredeemably bad that I have come to find it quite fascinating in a car-crash sort of way.

Dexter, I don't think those boots will ever be fashionable again but it might be worth ebaying them and claiming they're in the style of Pippa Middleton in your description. There are probably people out there who think she looks great.

Lastnight, your outfit sounds lovely. I have a deep abiding obsession with all things APC!

LastnightDNAruinedmylife · 05/09/2012 19:39

Ohh Frances, I too obsess on Ms Middleton (& not in a good way), that eyeliner, that hair, those boots & THAT FUCKING EYELINER (that goes for you both Middleton girls, step away from the mother & her make-up 'tips').

& yes I heart APC, am currently listing after this.

First post house-move purchase I think (roll on the 22nd).

LastnightDNAruinedmylife · 05/09/2012 19:39

Lusting obviously.

PorkyandBess · 05/09/2012 21:31

God, I have some of those stretchy boot hideousities in my wardrobe.

I must get rid especially now I think they're Middleton-esque.

LastnightDNAruinedmylife · 06/09/2012 04:56

Thumb, that is unkind, I only got up for a cup of tea & found myself confronted with that, I feel a bit ill now, which isn't on at this time of the morning.

FWIW if I was Middleton Jnr, I'd deflect some of that cash to buy myself a pair of lips.

ovariantryst · 06/09/2012 12:07

I've only got a pair of biker boots at the moment.

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006E3E3TQ/ref=asc_df_B006E3E3TQ9550718/?tag=googlecouk06-21&creative=22134&creativeASIN=B006E3E3TQ&linkCode=asn

I'm not that fond of them, hence the fact that I can't be bothered to change them when feeding the chickens. So they're banished to the doorstep as they're covered in poo. I really, really need some new boots so I've been lurking here and on the style blogs but no joy so far (apart from hugely impractical Sam Edelman lust). I'm waiting for doesmybumlook40 to suggest something. Maybe she can solve my woes? I must admit she's my favourite blogger, purely because I aspire to look as polished as she does. The other ones occasionally look great, but mostly a bit meh / mid 40s. Does help that I don't live in the home counties anymore, so if I dressed like Kat 'bum40' I'd be a stylish oddity round here!

Imagine creating a blog with the intention of admiring Pippa Middelton's 'style'.

Finally, we now believe Pippa?s boots AREN?T Aquatalia, as reported two days ago, but indeed, they appear to be from Pippa?s favourite: Russell and Bromley. Check out this discussion on Facebook. What do you think? As Bella points out on that Facebook thread, the Russell and Bromley boot is very similar to Pippa?s. It has the same stripes, loops and heel. Also the shape is very similar. You can see the likeness in this picture on Zimbio.

Phew, that's a lot of research into some ugly boots.

Thumbwitch · 06/09/2012 12:53

I know! made me Grin (and cackle evilly) - sorry Lastnight but you should have been warned by the evil cackling! Grin
