I know loads of people here love them, but I think they are super-shiiiitt.

There. I have spoken the heresy aloud. And I feel much better for it.

I just want to know if I'm alone on this one. They make me think of 80s cowboy boots with the tops lopped off. Christ, I even hate the Acne ones. Just look at 'em (real and imitation):

Urgh. Not for me. Never. Ever. Unless I am in a nursing home and someone else is dressing me, by which time I probably won't care.

And YY to the pigs trotters look - including myself in that (I have big legs and small feet Sad )

Caerlaverock · 05/09/2012 09:15

Arf @ pig trotters so true, I am losing half a stone before I wear skinnies again after reading that

LesleyPumpshaft · 05/09/2012 09:16

That's why I don't wear them either, I worry about the pig trotter thing. It's etched into my mind now and I can't get rid of the image!

Startailoforangeandgold · 05/09/2012 09:19

Since I cannot wear stupid, painful, make your ankles feel like they are on fire court shoes or pumps. It has too be sandals, trainers or boots.

Long boots are ££££ and hot and feel stupid indoors. Sometimes ankle boots rock.

I also need some lace up ones because of the small feet, narrow ankle flapping about problem with skirts.

LesleyPumpshaft · 05/09/2012 09:23

Please don't think I'm dissing anyone for wearing them, the pig trotter thing is my own issue. It's not as though I'm a statuesque goddess with impeccable dress sense.

On the contrary, I am so uncool I don't even wear ankle boots! Grin

TerraNotSoFirma · 05/09/2012 09:26

My shotputters calves will not allow skinny jeans and ankle boots, only slim legged people look good in them.

My knee high riding boots shall be worn again this year (and the next year, the year after that etc etc)

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 05/09/2012 09:31

I will never have the pig trotter look with my size 9s. Grin

I will be getting a pair of Chelsea boots and continue to wear knee high riding boots. I love them. And I have good legs.

LesleyPumpshaft · 05/09/2012 09:31

tak1ngchances- Sweet Jesus woman, what are you trying to do to us all?

Grin
MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 05/09/2012 09:32

I do have a pair not dissimilar to the Carvela pair.

Worn once.

Going on Ebay.

OddGoldBoots · 05/09/2012 09:34

I live in these, I am on my 3rd pair and I have 3 more pairs stocked up under my stairs. It's rare I wear anything other than straight legged jeans and trousers on my bottom half but I do try to go a bit more creative on my top half. I'm probably thought of as a real frump when I'm out and about but it works for me.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 05/09/2012 09:38

"a bit more creative"

I am envisaging all sorts!!!!!

nilbyname · 05/09/2012 09:39

Who wanted flats?

are lovely and cheap

noddyholder · 05/09/2012 09:41

Ankle boots are in every year in different shapes and styles its just this year they are everywhere which is probably the kiss of death! They do look good though with skinnies and minis its all about legs and proportion.

regnamechange · 05/09/2012 09:41

Not keen on those links if I'm honest but I love my river island military boots and topshop Chelsea boots that have buckles

tak1ngchances · 05/09/2012 09:46

Lesley darling I am trying to explain the difference between mum boots and desirable ankle boots via links. If we were all together I would have whipped up a powerpoint presentation by now together with defining features of each subset of boots.

This is for the benefit of posters saying "But they all look the same to meeeee"

OddGoldBoots · 05/09/2012 09:47

MrsRobertDuvall Wink

regnamechange · 05/09/2012 09:48

These are the kind I like. Have number 2 twentyteneightyfour.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/c600x600.jpg

noddyholder · 05/09/2012 09:49

Only the chosen can see the difference

noddyholder · 05/09/2012 09:49

Those are mumboots

LesleyPumpshaft · 05/09/2012 09:49

tak1ngchances No probs, I was aware of that and merely expressing my alarm, but it's a tad early for such abominations. You could have posted that with a warning. Wink

I have seen lots of mums who wear those kinds of shoes, so know exactly what you mean!

tak1ngchances · 05/09/2012 09:56

Agree it's v early for such horrors. I am on cup of tea #1 and I am thinking some of those boots were two-cup standard

LesleyPumpshaft · 05/09/2012 09:59

I might have to get you back by posting some Per Una links!

regnamechange · 05/09/2012 10:03

I think it depends on age? Some of the links are something my grandma would wear, however some look like something fern cotton would rock!Grin

tak1ngchances · 05/09/2012 10:05

No Per Una, pleeeeeease. Do PU do boots actually? I reckon they'd take the prize for nastiness
