It's the same every time I have an occasion. I'm closer to 40 than 35, small, with massive squidgy thighs, but quite a slim waist. Nothing looks right on me. I have to wear heels or I feel too small and would like to wear black skinny jeans and a nice floaty top....but finding the black skinny jeans that squeeze my ass and thighs a size smaller is impossible. I now have 5 pairs of size 10 or 12's that are too tight, give me a camels hoof, too big at the waist or too baggy at the ass. I DESPAIR! I now have 48 hours to find something suitable. I've tried DP's and if they sold size 11 they would be perfect. I have cheap Primani, but they sag. I have Next high waisters, but they make me bum look huge and there is not enough elasticity in them. Ordering online would also be helpful as I'm working for most of the next 48 hours!!! Your suggestions would be appreciated Grin

Try New Look Super Skinny. I was sceptical as an very thigh-y, however the material is great and they fit slightly differently to normal 'skinny' jeans

You sound very curvy and the right cut of jeans would make you look über sexy.

Why do you want to wear a floaty top? Wouldn't a fitted top emphasise your slim waist more?

Presume you've already tried Topshop? I've just bought some Baxters and they're flattering on the thigh - I do find they're big on the waist though so I wear them with a belt.

I am a strong believer in the power of a good tailor. I have an awkward figure in that I'm very tall (5'10) with nice legs, fairly wide hips and substantial bum and a small waist. I buy trousers that fit well on the hips and then get them taken in at the waist - voila, the perfect jeans!

Thank you! I've got some Top Shop Baxters.... great fit, until I gained 10lbs. Maybe I could squeeze in try a bigger size, gulp. I did venture in to Top Shop a few weeks ago during a 'sale' and after I had bravely fought my way to the jeans section, there were only tiny sizes available, so I left empty handed.

As I'm small with a large rear end, I tend to favour floaty as it seems to balance me out IYKWIM.

Gap "legging jeans" ?
Topshop martha they are big on the waist on me, I wear a belt, but they are straight leg, so they might suit you better than skinny jeans - I am not the same shape as you, but similar size they seem pretty roomy around the thigh and bum imo.

If you are petite - do you get Topshop petite clothes? I find topshop petite waists are smaller than say the 30 inch leg martha jeans, but you will still have the issue with fitting them over your thighs, maybe.

I would be a 12 in TP petite but a 10 (28 inch waist in the martha).

I agree with the PP who said you need to make friends with your local seamstress/tailor - your jeans will fit you and you won't have last minute panic about what to wear - it is worth just getting a couple of pairs fitted to start with.

I have seen posters talking about levi curve(?) jeans maybe they would be worth trying?

It does sound that you have a good figure, so your thighs might seem big to you, but you are a 10-12 so you are slim. If you are small on top would you be able to wear a dress that flatters your top half and skims your curves? People will see the top half of you most if you are sitting down to eat etc.

Fashion fixers advice on jeans has some ideas they mention Leigh jeans from Topshop - they have a higher waist so might work for you?

I found some gorgeous black straight leg jeans earlier that are stretchy, flattering and hold it all in...Primark, a tenner Grin
