Highlights Help

I'm a natural brunette, but have had blonde highlights put in twice this year, now I want to go darker for the autumn, would I be better getting dark highlights? (are these actually called lowlights?) or would I be better getting an all over darker colour put on?
I think they used some form of bleach on my hair, so am concerned that an all over colour might not take properly......any advice welcome!
Thanks

You can put a semi permanent over high lights.

You can also have a tint but in alongside your existing high lights.
