Do you tuck?

I see that to tuck in your shirt is the done thing these days and if you are a fashionista you do the semi tuck. Do you think that a super flat tummy is essential or could I get away with it with a mini muffin?

I'd link but I find they don't ever work when I'm on my iPad.

I tuck but tend to do the semi tuck and tuck under a close fitting vest top rather than into jeans as seems to be a better tucking length on me.

There's a lot of tuck in that sentence. I do hope it makes some sense.

Chandon · 02/09/2012 19:24

I started tucking in this year.

Some weird fashion tamtam must have reached my subconscious...

It is slimming, I find, if you have a slimish waist (helpful)

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/09/2012 19:26

I tuck, but I tend to wear quite high waisted skirts so I don't have a muffin top with it. Very flattering on me.

Caerlaverock · 02/09/2012 19:28

Would love to but am not in possession of a waist, sadly

TheOwlsAreNotWhatTheySeem · 02/09/2012 19:28

I tuck a lot.

GobblersKnob · 02/09/2012 19:45

I have never tucked anything.

LaurieFairyCake · 02/09/2012 19:46

Not once - I have a small waist but am very short-waisted - so if I tucked my shirt in my norks would be just above my belt Grin

CouthyMowWearingOrange · 02/09/2012 19:48

Only my tummy apron into my trousers...

noyouhavehadawee · 02/09/2012 19:51

No but maybe i should, my dd has taken to pulling my trousers up or top down when i bend over Blush

Startailoforangeandgold · 02/09/2012 20:02

NO!

And I'm forever untucking DH, who can't tell the difference between a shirt and a casual top. He tucks the most ridiculous things in like an old man might.

Trills · 02/09/2012 20:03

What's a semi tuck?

boodles · 02/09/2012 20:03

None of my shirts are tuckable. I would never choose to tuck, though.

dexter73 · 02/09/2012 20:06

I tuck depending on the top.

jamaisjedors · 02/09/2012 20:07

I have been known to tuck, but then I worry it makes my tummy look bigger and I faff around for ages trying to avoid a puffy look.

And then when I pull it all out again my top is creased.

It's a nightmare, I tell you Grin

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 20:08

Tucked in the front, untucked at the back Trills. For that I've just done this so quickly and absolutley have not spent hours in front of the mirror fiddling.

Seriously you need to tuck under a vest top - maximum flattering effect. I saw this on Wendy's blog.

knitknack · 02/09/2012 20:09

I have to do that too startail!! DH is 6'4" and very very handsome and lean but he tucks things in, belts it all up nice and tight and stands there ready to go out looking like tweedle dee. I have to rough him up (and tug his jeans down) before we leave the house.

I tuck, I'm nothing if not double-standardised....

NotMostPeople · 02/09/2012 20:33

Mrs CB I can't picture how you tuck under a vest top, can you elaborate?

Am seriously considering tucking now, I'm long in the body so when I tried it the other day the shirt just kept I tucking itself. I am always up for an excuse to buy more though.

:o couthy

I don't but I'm an apple :(. I hate tucking of all kinds, unless a dress shirt/trousers on a man

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 20:39

Right so you've got on a slim fitting vest top.
Put a shirt on top.
Now tuck the bottom of the shirt under the bottom of the vest top.

Does that make sense?

The vest top needs to be close fitting for this to work.

GobblersKnob · 02/09/2012 20:46

Confused so you just tuck the shirt up inside your vest? Does it not

a) just fall down again?

b) make your vest all wrinkly and wierd?

and would it not have to be a rather long vest, which would defeat the object, otherwise would it not risk a belly gap when you lifted your arms?

Am I missing something?

GobblersKnob · 02/09/2012 20:47

Realised you woudn't see the wrinkly vest as the shirt would cover it, d'oh. Still confused on the other points though.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 21:08

No it doesn't fall down because the vest is clingy.

And vest not that long but I don't want shirts tucked in at my waist - more at hip level.

I tend to wear highish waisted jeans so don't get my tummy showing and I rate the basic Dorothy Perkins vest tops.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/09/2012 21:16

You can see Wendy doing 'the tuck' here

hugoagogo · 02/09/2012 21:21

Not sure that look would work on very many people though. Hmm

and I hate animal prints

knitknack · 02/09/2012 21:26

Ooh that's brilliant! A new tuck!
