For anyone who likes to talk about style, nice stuff that they've bought and so on.

Lol Pop have bought, they are nice I think. Will try again at home. Easy to get on hard to get off. Could be a problem if stuck in boots all day Grin

Am in Hermes and oh my oh my at the jumping boots. I love them! They don't have my size. Does Hermes even do sales?

Love petrol too.

Whilst DS was at nursery this morning I went to the shops to take advantage of the 25% Grazia offer for Whistles and bought two blazers:
www.whistles.co.uk/fcp/categorylist/dept/shop?resetFilters=true#ID=id_903000058553_coats_GBP&category=coats
(not very Autumn like I know but it looks great on and works hard within my existing wardrobe)
and this
www.whistles.co.uk/fcp/categorylist/dept/shop?resetFilters=true#ID=id_903000058483_coats_GBP&category=coats
and a beautiful short in length cream silk blouse which slips on (no buttons) and looks good with those A&W sweatpants!
I tried on (but didn't buy) a jumper in the petrol blue in Hobbs. The colour was amazing but the cut made me feel like an old woman so I'll keep looking.
Just need it to stop raining so I can wear my new Ash boots!
Marsha did you go to the new Regent Street store? is it beautiful? I have read amazing things about the craftsmanship..........

MarshaBrady · 27/09/2012 15:37

Shop great blazers. They are really lovely.

Pop you sound very elegant and EA-ish at 5'10" good cheekbones, good one!

yy to new Regent St store. Didn't realise it was new, but it is huge. Makes sense that it's new! Lots of floors, loads of trench coats, chic sales people in black and a massive movie screen in the middle. It is very nice.

These are the boots. I feel indulgent getting them of course. Utterly so, and nearly didn't, but then did. But I think they are quite nice and will most likely last a lot longer than any leather boots that I take to the park and end up ruining.

Marsha I love the boots!!!
Pop great blazers. And no to old woman clothes!.
after an intense deadline-packed day.
Plus a party to go to in the evening

Will lay down for a moment and then try to figure out what to wear.

Hot and humid, tropical feeling.

DonaAna · 27/09/2012 16:13

Ok think I got it.
Sea-green NR dress, nude peep-toe patent pumps, black 2.55, chunky ivory Marni bracelet plus will look for a suitable cocktail ring.

I need a beige / neutral / silver clutch.
Would love to have something in crocodile or python - suede too delicate.
Patent leather possible too.

Bonsoir · 27/09/2012 16:26

Lovely, lovely boots, Marsha. Well done!

Hopefully · 27/09/2012 17:05

Marsha those boots look perfect for wet weather, well done. And I'm sure they'll last for ages.

Shop on phone so links not opening on stupid whistles website, but will peruse later. I find Hobbs clothes really good quality, but rarely cut for my shape/style (they have a lot of classic/gamine shapes, IMO). Bought a lovely forest green tweed pencil skirt there a few weeks ago though.

Spent a couple of hours bemoaning the lack of natural fibres/decent quality clothes available this season with my mum this afternoon. We are both down to v minimal wardrobes as funds prevent buying tons of designer stuff, but we are both utterly averse to buying acres of polyester and other plastic crap.

OMG Marsha amazing boots.
Having tried the jackets on at home with other things the grey is going back. Mainly because I didn't realise it is polyester!!! And also because it makes me look quite washed out in natural light. I think I can do better and I don't feel The Smug Pop

MarshaBrady · 27/09/2012 18:00

Thanks everyone!

Lol Pop! Grin

I had the wibble, which is my favourite bit of shopping.

Shop good decision, now you can get something else you love.

Sounds gorgeous Dona, have a fabulous time.

Dona outfit sounds fabulous - enjoy your party.

FritziGreenEyes · 27/09/2012 20:59

Clutch for dona?

FritziGreenEyes · 28/09/2012 08:25

I love this coat. Can anyone buy it please so I can live vicariously?

Hopefully · 28/09/2012 09:02

Ooh, gorgeous coat Fritzi. Buy it yourself Grin

Feeling a bit better cold-wise today, off into town with my parents and hoping they might child-watch while I attempt to fruitlessly search for clothes again.

DonaAna · 28/09/2012 09:05

Thanks Fritzi - lovely python!
Ok, so (barely) survived the cocktail party last night...
Had forgotten once again how conservative DH's dos really are. Now I remember why I have so many LBDs...

  • allowed colors: black, white, cream in the most luxurious materials, preferably silk or fine wool, knee length or slightly below. Red if you are a famous journalist. My green NR dress was okay and the accessories were spot-on (found a huge garnet ring, Marni cuffs looked young but ivory was just right), but black silk would have felt so much better. Or my cream Lanvin (will wear it next time)
  • any kind of pattern looks cheap and frumpy *clashing accessories and bright statement shoes look fine in fashion parties but would have been absolutely out of place here
  • all women wore discreet chain-strapped bags, no clutches. You don't want to have to think about your bag as you are very busy greeting, kissing, drinking and talking - and you do not want to drop a bag. Don't think I can handle a clutch - would feel too self-conscious about it - might get a silver python/croc chain-strapped bag or a beige Miss Dior, but 2.55 was very good too. *had forgotten that the the smartest women do not wear a bag at all. When I went to parties many times a week, I actually used to leave my stuff locked up in the car or in custody of DH.
  • power pearls were the thing: saw beautiful huge baroque pearls and enormous Tahitians. I think I need to get some too.
  • a pashmina or silk wrap just looks off
  • I normally wear ten-year-old black courts or ancient black slim Zara wedges that are both pretty and comfortable. A cocktail party means standing for hours - anything that makes your feet hurt simply does not work as they interfere with your ability to smile and socialize. I broke my own rules and wore nude peep-toe courts - excruciating pain kicked in about an hour into the party. The parties get crowded - very few people will notice your feet - so go for comfort. *The hostess got everything right: black silk salwar kameez trousers, stunning jeweled flat sandals (+Rouge Noir), a sleeveless tailored silk top, and a waterfall of golden baubles, plus a killer black onyx ring with a huge Tahitian pearl. She looked so simple and effortless... *saw a great pair of silver-black brocade pants - looked amazing *it gets hot... There was A/C but I felt pearls of sweat trickling down my legs at some point Grin

Today I am returning to everyday mode (cleaning snotty noses, going for a big weekend food shop) - taking a day off work to get everything I've ignored for a month back on track...

MarshaBrady · 28/09/2012 12:30

Love the sound of your night Dona. And the description of everyone. Really fabulous!

Am taking notes for the next party I attend Grin. Love it!

Great coat Fritzi. Am looking for a coat, sadly the Marant one I like has sold out in Liberty so am trying to find it elsewhere.

Dona glad your outfit worked, it's nice not to totally conform sometimes Smile. Hostess's outfit sounds fab.

Have discovered an awesome local museum with fab kids' facilities and a cheap but brilliant cafe. Very pleased. Also liking my outfit of new forest green mango waterfall cardigan, khaki Agnes and pale brown Vincent tshirt (love the shape, but sooooo ££££).

Hopefully · 28/09/2012 12:43

Vince, not Vincent. Autocorrect hell.

MarshaBrady · 28/09/2012 12:47

Great outfit Hopefully.

Yes the green NR sounds a good choice.

shopafrolic · 28/09/2012 14:17

Dona I love your descriptions - thanks for telling us all about it - sounds incredible - and a little intimidating! Interesting re: clashing accessories too. I'm sure you looked amazing.
Hopefully do you have a link for the t-shirt - I'm curious.......

DonaAna · 28/09/2012 16:30

Hopefully outfit sounds fab!
Marsha did you get a chance to wear your new boots yet?

Took the day of, did various very glamorous things (such as cleaning the fridge), cooked, spent time with DC (took DD1 to a café).

The Matches mag reached Italy and I'm loving some things there. Fell in love with blazer - it would be perfect - naturally sold out in my size. The prices of fashion are ridiculous atm. Yes I'd love that blazer but not at full price. And a pair of pretty brocade pants for 700? or 800? - excuse me?

Have found a fascinating new book, really well written - will report back later Wink

Want to go running and bought some red wine and Argentinian steaks. Bring on the weekend!

Hopefully · 28/09/2012 16:54

Shop it's this one. I have it in a kind of pale truffle brown colour. It's not the best colour on me, but such a great shape for a simple crew neck tshirt.

DonaAna · 28/09/2012 16:57

Oh and if you want to relax spending some time at Paris SS 2013 shows, here is Dior from earlier today. I've been looking forward to it. Loved almost all of it, really like Raf Simons's powerful minimalistic sculptural shapes still manage. Very pretty and wearable, plus feature my favorite ever dress shape

DonaAna · 28/09/2012 16:58

Sorry, garbled message. The bright red pink combo totally got me Wink
