For anyone who likes to talk about style, nice stuff that they've bought and so on.

Oh no Fleecy that is bad luck. Is it anywhere else?

Yy to the delicacy of cashmere Dona. Making me feel a big better about not getting it. Smile

Am in apricot APC, citrus angora acne scarf and indigo avedon skinnies. S'ok wouldn't mind a new warm short coat.

Congratulations Pop! That's great. Do you start soon?

Actually I did do separate skirt over skinnies, I was in Melbourne at the time and they loved that look.

Love brocade as well as floral -black too and Dona your pin of brocade and blazer was gorgeous.

Love the outfit too.

Hope DD better soon Fleecy and commiserations on the dress.

Well done Popcornia.

Am impatiently awaiting an H and M order of wine cowl necked jumper and belted herring bone coat. Was originally because I wanted to take them to Budapest, but the forecast there is between 25 and 31 degrees all weekend (hurray!) so I don't think I will be taking A/W purchases. Sun dresses it is.

trixymalixy · 25/09/2012 09:41

Well done pop!! Are you treating yourself with a purchase? That's what I always do to celebrate!

Today I'm wearing a kind of tweedy Calvin Klein shift dress with long sleeved top under, black opaques and brogues, and thinking its time to start looking for a warm and waterproof coat, brrrrrrr, it's freezing.

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2012 10:14

It does kind of go from summer to winter temperatures. I love wearing sweaters only with a scarf but too cold. Brr

Except for Budapest, sound great NY

Fleecy · 25/09/2012 10:17

Ooh that's great pop - well done you! Hoep the snot clears up in the Pop House!

No cold here - ear infection in left ear last week, got antibiotics, temp shot up yesterday, breathing went funny, phoned NHS Direct, paramedic sent, temp came down and she perked up (as they do!) so felt a fraud but sent off to docs and turns out ABs have cleared up original ear infection but now the other ear has one that's not responding. Miserable baby, poor little soul. Temp better today though so just a case of gritting teeth and thinking of the muscle building opportunities of carrying an 11mo baby around all day...

ny H&M take ages don't they? Not that you need it with your sunny weekend. I am not at all jealous. Really. Convinced? Grin

marsha are the wedge boots still lovely and comfy?

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2012 10:24

Oh no poor little baby Fleecy, scary getting a paramedic. Hope she gets better today.

Yes I love them still! Only thing is love them too much for park so am back in APC boots today. Which feel kind of overdone now. Looking for a good park alternative. From sunshine to rain right now. Brr

Popping in to say Lanvin ballet flats on Outnet Marsha

Nice outfits all - at work wearing grey tweedy reiss pencil skirt, olive Joseph fitted cardigan, chunky silver necklace and charcoal boucle jacket. New combo as new skirt - quite like but not perfect somehow. Also tired due to waking toddler so not too inspired this morning!

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2012 11:56

Thanks Breton! Will check it out pronto.

Love your outfit. Sounds fabulous. How are things? Hope all is good.

OP posts:
bretonbee · 25/09/2012 12:20

Thanks Marsha - all good. Been preoccupied with potential new job and various interviews. Haven't heard yet though (congrats pop btw on yours) and will be one of those decisions where job will be exciting and challenging but worry about it being too much....we'll see.

Compiling A/w list though...need non suede ankle boots for wet weather and a decent coat / jacket for trips to park. Think a new pair of work shoes - maybe burgundy will pretty much update my work wardrobe.

ujjayi · 25/09/2012 12:58

Hi All

Lots of fabulous sounding outfits on here today. I am wearing navy breton (Zara), sleeveless swallow print tea dress (no idea where from Hmm) navy leggings (Topshop) and ASOS Aggie tan boots. Oh and a silver & lapis cocktail ring :)

Returned the Celtic Sheepskin cable knit. It was just so shapeless. I love an oversized jumper but I think because it is cotton it just looked bleurgh. Am now considering Woolovers in either sage or navy.

Just been shopping for college clothes. We do lots of messy work so I was after stuff which I don't feel precious about.....splashing Vivienne Westwood with gouache would send me into a meltdown! After a non-starter in Zara and Warehouse, I popped into H&M and bought everything I needed. I bought:

Dark magenta & navy tweed tailored shorts (this is a new and daring look for me....am thinking "sod it" if I don't do shorts over opaques at 41 then I'm never going to). Not on their site yet so can't link to them.
This breton in grey marl & navy This looks way more expensive than it is. Lovely soft fabric but sized up to get a looser fit.
An olive, magenta & pumpkin Fairisle cardigan - again, sized up to a large for a lovely "vintage find" vibe.
Burgundy straight leg cords.
One burgundy and one slate grey short sleeve tees (very similar to the Zara linen tees that were around in the summer but these are slub cotton). Lovely oversized and will look great with the cardi and cords. Loose enough to layer over long sleeve tees too.

All will work brilliantly with my existing wardrobe (slate, navy, teal, magenta & olive). Thank you so much ladies for starting this thread. I have never felt so organised, inspired or relaxed about my clothes before :) Getting dressed each day is an absolute pleasure now rather than a source of stress and I can't remember the last time I had a "what should I wear??" feeling. DH is also vair appreciative of your input!

Congatulations pop!

I am limping around in sheepskin slippers with a broken toe Sad so not exactly setting the world alight, style-wise, today. Although am sporting my new cardigan and am rather pleased with it. Wearing it over long layered Splendid vests and dark olive green Topshop leggings (which I am getting an insane amount of use out of, need a second pair of something similar).

Anyone got a Toast code? Think this jacket might be perfect for pre-heavy-winter-coat weather.

DonaAna · 25/09/2012 13:18

Pop you made it!!! Am so happy for you! (And of course dying to know what you will wear for 1st day of work.) Oh and thanks for the anthropological analysis re: skirts over trousers. I was in the Nordics at the time and saw it as a trendy English import (think most of my friends were either studying or au pairing or working in bars in London at that time Grin) - but I always assumed it was a weather-based necessity Wink - those days the weather seemed always too grim for skirts - time for a revival? And yy to gothic looks. (Mine will be very tame.)

Fleecy hope your child will get better soon. My DD2 has dramatic ear infections just like that, the temp shoots up to 40 in an hour or less and she goes limp and drowsy, and then back to life again 30 min after a good dose of Panadol.

Breton fingers crossed for new job & you sound stylish as always! But yes I know how uninspiring early morning dressing can be.

Pop I have a lot of silver/semiprecious cocktail rings from my time in Brazil in all possible colors. I don't do necklaces a lot and don't wear earrings, so it's all-out on rings...

A major work deadline tomorrow. Have already contributed the intellectual content (non-stop work in Portugal plus lots of tomatoes yesterday and today). Now I just need to through the really boring motions to finalize everything Hmm. Another big deadline on Thu. If I survive them, I'll deserve to take the Friday off doing something I really enjoy.

NY Budapest sounds amazing! Portugal was as hot last week and the only glitch in my capsule wardrobe was that I did not have enough vests and had forgotten to take along a sundress - take a few as you may want to change them often if it's really sweltering!

Am dying for a run - have been working way too much and have felt that I need to spend the evenings home with DC before and after my trip...

Right. Ankle boots. I know what I want. I want these but in leather, not suede. The key bits are (a) the split at the side to make them nice and casual, (b) the cross over buckle and (c) the leather has to be soft, like suede is (all slouchy, not stiff). Any links much appreciated Grin.

DonaAna · 25/09/2012 18:17

Whew, a really long work day finally over. Desk looks like a warzone after an explosion of paper. The positive: am 24 hrs ahead of schedule, prospects for a day off on Fri look really promising, although tomorrow will still be quite intensive.

Pop hope you find a good solution to the nanny situation! Our Nanny is lovely and very flexible - she has been working overtime a lot this month to enable our traveling an my extra long work days. I would not be able to do anything without her. I hope she will want to stay with us as long as possible.
Hopefully good luck with finding the right boots... and the toe healing.

My brain feels like a squeezed lemon - finding the right jacquard/ brocade trousers is well beyond my capacity tonight Grin Would need something really relaxing and soothing to read plus maybe a glass of wine after DC's bedtime...

MarshaBrady · 25/09/2012 20:10

Dona Wine for you. I don't usually do that

They are v lovely, but I need flats (am cramp with heels on days when I am not working - I walk miles with the DCs). Those in flat form would be perfect!

Argh, my toe hurts. Will have to think up a few broken-toe-friendly outfits for my conference next week....
