For anyone who likes to talk about style, nice stuff that they've bought and so on.

Oh and a small victory. Does anyone happen to remember that I mentioned lobbying something recently to very arty/indie 20sths (dressed in head to toe white canvas and with multiple silver nose-ear chains) totally out of my league stylewise.

But heard today that they are on board!! Shock Managed to convince them - they actually listened to me. Shock (And have already had some media interest - glossy mags calling - clearly someone is leaking insider info somewhere...)

MarshaBrady · 13/09/2012 20:25

lolol at margherita pizza. Grin Hate it when that happens.

I need tops, I hate buying them. They are expensive and the cost of making a tshirt much be so low, the mark up so much. How much must it cost to put together some cotton into the shape of a tshirt. For what £70 .

Also desperately need shoes (which I may have mentioned) and sweaters. No pants! I just realised those red ones probably wouldn't suit me anyway, I was momentarily swayed by pockets and cuffs.

Trains are tricky. Can you change in Florence after the train?

Well done!

Hi All

so all this talk of new season attire has inspired me (that and the fact that it's chuffing freezing) and I am going to do the switch over tomorrow from spring/summer wardrobe to autumn/winter. I shall be brave and determined in my quest to rid the wardrobe of all that I don't wear and have a streamlined version.

Dona - sounds like you are on a roll with work. And totally agree with you re DC and how much more enjoyable it gets as they get older. Have a fabulous time in Florence :)

Anyone who has guessed the identity of Bonsoir's Super.....would you care to give the rest of us a clue?

Marsha well done for staying on focus for A/W purchase and not being swayed by J Crew pants.

Am ridiculously excited about the "oversize" trend for outerwear this season. I have a beautiful MaxMara coat which I bought back in 1999 which I take out every winter thinking that perhaps I will wear it again and now it will get the chance to shine once more!

Love the earlier links to grey marl sweatpants chic. Inspired, I am working my own version this evening with a pale green cashmere slouchy v-neck, white vest and sweatpants. Only mine are Gap rather than Isabel Marant.

notyummy · 13/09/2012 21:44

Thanks for the shirt spot Popcornia!

AuldAlliance · 13/09/2012 21:48

Popping in to say that the grey sweatpants look has reached Provence, as I spotted a very carefully dressed lady wearing a pair while I waited at the school gate this afternoon. They looked pricy, but still unmistakably like a pair of expensive trackie bums, as we called them at school.
I can't quite get my head round it, TBH.

I second the appeal for clues as to the ID of Bonsoir's supermodel. Though there is a distinct chance I may never have heard of her. Blush

Just swinging by to say Dona I have read the first couple of chapters of YAWYW and it is pretty fascinating. Need to commit some time to the more in depth areas and wardrobe analysis, I can see.

DonaAna · 13/09/2012 22:13

Clues galore at my usual hangout - what to wear for school run Wink

Auld wow - I'm sure the mother there felt smug after her trip to Paris shops. Am seriously considering sweatpant chic - I feel I may not be alive when that look will be back next time (but can always use them for jogging). And definitely GAP, not pretentious designer chic Grin

What next? I'm secretly praying that the late 80s/early 90s power suit look will be back... Don't tell anyone but I love shoulder pads

Ujj MaxMara is the expert on coats. Their camel coat is a true classic.

Oh and Notyummy, experincing definite runwear envy - I don't have the high end technical stuff but can see it on the running track every day. (Will reward myself at some future point if I reach my goals.)

I'm wearing the green Evil Stepmother shouldered green COS dress with Marni for H&M DIY white flower bracelet. The combination is so gorgeous! May not work on train though - and exaggerated shoulder line would require a clutch bag, not ideal for a day trip. Plus which shoes? Have a perfect pair back North...
Will probably go for my pretty and safe watermelon Maxmara sundress and green Mini Gracie (it's daytime - have to come back to liberate Nanny & put children to bed).

DonaAna · 13/09/2012 22:14

Oh Hopefully I'm glad - keep reading!

FritziGreenEyes · 14/09/2012 11:20

hopefully I know you are looking for leather trousers but I saw a fab leather pencil skirt in forest green in Cos this morning. Thought colour and cut might be spot on for you: here.

I also liked this top in Cos but teal is no good on me.

This blazer was nice in Massimo Dutti, like boiled wool, bur very soft. I also liked this bag. They also had it in red.

bonsoir How was your lunch yesterday? Is this your sleeveless coat?

The acne jumper has arrived and it has bits of old wool hanging off it all over. Confused. Not sure why it looks like it's been worn for 5 years already. Bizarre!

Not very soft, that kind of stiff wool. Colours is lovely.

Fritzi lovely stuff, hi Auld!

Nice Pop yes sometimes a shirt can be a good one. I like that one.

OMG what do people wear every day? Am going through my wardrobe and flapping big time about casual wear. I can do workwear, and even though i need a bit more, I don't struggle to find it. Stylish casual eludes me though. I seem to either wallow in jeans and t-shirt or look overdressed. Every day outfit ideas for working at home/toddler wrangling/trips into town required. Help!

Fritzi that pencil skirt looks lovely. Wish Cos put in the occasional picture of their clothes on an actual person - there isn't one near here so would need to order.

MarshaBrady · 14/09/2012 19:51

The only way to stop the skinnies thing is to purposely not put them on. I haven't done this for weeks btw. I wear skinnies every day. Except when I wear skirts in the summer sun. Thank goodness I do that.

But winter, I'm going to make an effort to not reach for the usual.

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 14/09/2012 20:39

Fritzi - yes, that is my sleeveless coat and one of my Lunching Lady friends noticed it and complimented me on it straight away. I wasn't particularly happy with my look and the lunch was OK - Ralph's is not my style at all! It felt like a luxe version of a Disney theme restaurant!

I did do a lot of wardrobe culling yesterday and I now have no clothes. The good news is that DP is going to New York for a week quite soon so can buy me J Brand jeans at $ prices. Just need to know what I want - any suggestions?

Bonsoir · 14/09/2012 20:41

Auld - my supermodel soon-to-be-Mummy-friend ha ha ha is on the back of every double decker bus and newspaper kiosk in Paris in her underwear - take a look around you and you'll spot her!

Hopefully · 14/09/2012 21:19

But Marsha what di i put on instead? Unlike Bonsoir's new BFF, the world is not ready for me in pants!

MarshaBrady · 14/09/2012 21:35

Oh yeh that Grin

Um love this top and trouser. The pocket! Love the pocket.

Big skirt / riding boot.

Is that hopeless? probably. Are you after actual Cos / Matches / NaP / Myw etc suggestions?

Bonsoir can you say to your new fabulous friend that I have always liked her eyebrows, they look great. Not sure on J brands I'm afraid. I only had the legging type ones and they didn't last very long.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 14/09/2012 22:09

maybe I should put a Wink after that

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 15/09/2012 06:07

I love the knee socks peeping out of boots look - DD did it very well last winter with some great black leather Start-Rite boots. Sadly, I am way too old for it - my legs need to remain covered except in the very height of summer!

pickledsiblings · 15/09/2012 11:00

Bonsoir, she has 3 children ShockShockShock.

Hopefully, a softly tailored shirt can look good. Mango have some nice ones.

pickledsiblings · 15/09/2012 11:10

Oh and Hopefully, a nice scarf and great footwear help too with the sylishcasual look. My Ash wedge trainers make me feel stylishly casual - I wear them most days.

Bonsoir · 15/09/2012 11:13

I know Envy. Though I want to take a closer look to see whether her stomach muscles haven't been airbrushed for the pics!

shopafrolic · 15/09/2012 12:44

Bonsoir she's in a big article in the Times today - I too like her eyebrows v much! Please report back with wardobe updates!
Dona the grey best dressed list also in today's Times with a fabulous photo of Daphne Self and David Gant. Thought of you....
