In 2012 what are people wearing in their hair to weddings?

I haven't been to any weddings this year yet, but have one in two weeks time. I think I have the dress and the shoes....but should I have some sort of hair accessory to feel more weddingy?

I wouldn't wear a fascinator type thingy.....is there an accessory of the moment that people are favouring?

The dress is a charcoal silk shift dress with neon pink sequins and I have simple very strappy charcoal sandals. Plain charcoal clutch bag.

I have a hair clip that is a cerise pink butterfly, I was considering wearing my hair up in a messy side bun and sliding that in the back, but not sure it's dressy enough.

Any suggestions?

But messy bun and pretty clip sounds nice. Just whatever you do, don't wear a hat. You'll be the only one.

I'm going to a wedding tomorrow but don't have a fascinator or anything in my hair - I'm not great at styling my hair and just wear it straight!

I have enough accessories though so I don't think I need anything else!

Your outfit sounds great. I think the right fascinator, from one of the more unusual, creative designers can look good. And I disagree with Lurkey re: the hat.... A beautiful hat, even a casual one, looks amazing at a wedding and shows respect for the bride and groom. At a summer wedding this year I saw a girl wearing a gorgeous floppy straw hat with a simple bright shift dress and high heeled sandals, she looked good. What's wrong with being the only one if you wear it well anyway?! Other people will envy you!

Outfit sounds fab and hairstyle with clip sounds great. I LOATHE fascinators - it's either a proper hat or your idea for me.

Would love to wear a hat! The bride loves all things vintage and would be very pleased if I considered her taste and style and added a hat of some kind.....interesting idea. I could make my hair sleeker and add a hat of some kind...I would prefer something modern and chic that suits the simplicity of the dress.
