Help thinning hair!!

Hi I was wondering if anyone experienced this before, my hair seems to get really thin and fine, when I look at old pictures of myself my forehead looks a bit smaller too, and it looks thinner at the fringe area and hair line.

I'm really really anxious about it, my husband doesn't seem to think it looks any different but I don't think he's looking properly, he just thinks it's anxiety.

Also luckily I have (or used to have) lots of hair so it might not be obvious to other people yet.

I've had 3 weeks of hell worrying about it and looking at other women's hairlines and old pics of myself, it's a nightmare.

Plus I'm losing sleep over it which does not help matters.

I'm only 36 but I am wondering if it may be the perimenopause, as I have also noticed lately that my boobs are facing south and my bum too although that could be caused by recent weight loss (just a few kilos which I don't seem to be able to regain).

Although my period is regular, it seems to last 3 days, stop for a couple of days and then start again very lightly for another day or so and my PMS symptoms seem worse (irritability etc...)
Also we have moved house 2 months ago and the DCs had to start a new school etc... so all a bit stressful.

Any advice on the matter would be welcome, I will go and see a GP about it too but in the meantime I would love to hear some of your (reassuring) stories.
Thanks a lot!

Will do Cahu thank you for your help

I need to forget about it now and get on with my life because it's worrying me to distraction now and it's not fair on my husband and kids, as supportive as my DH may be

I too am freaking out about my quite sudden thinning of hair around the hairline - I'm sure I can see a V emerging (you know, like a bloke) and loss of volume. My family just think i'm paranoid but I know, especially when I put my hair in a ponytail - there is not nearly as much hair as there used to be.

I did see a doctor, but she just told me it was probably my age (49). She did check my bloods and they were normal, but she didn't check my hormones. I have read somewhere that high testosterone in women can cause thinning hair and that there is a drug that counteracts this, so have now booked an appointment with a different doctor to request a test.

I am so stressed about this (which isn't helping it of course). I keep looking at other people's hairlines (my daughter thought I'd lost it the other day cos I was staring at her head!).

I read that lavender oil promotes hair growth and have tried it for a week - no change yet but I guess it takes a while.................

I have used dry shampoo recently but not in excess, but will not be using it any more having read everyone's comments.

Any suggestions most welcome

Ah I have the tingling head thing too!
I am in the same boat, thinning hair, anxiety, stress the lot!
I've just starting taking biotin and pre natal vitamins as they have high doses of everything good!
I've got salon professional shampoo for fine hair.
I've had my thyroid checked; 'within acceptable levels' I don't know what this actually means? But I assume I'm ok.
I'm just giving the vitamins 3 months and seeing if anything happens.

I've got this too, have just been to docs and I'm booked in for blood test to check for anaemia, PCOS and thyroid function.

Ooh I have PCOS, what can they do about that?
I just got given clomid to get pregnant not a word about PCOS. I apparently don't l

Ok, sea kelp seems to be a common thread here - would appreciate any feedback on this i.e. effects, side effects, best place to get it from etc. Might give it a go.
