Wedding dress panic...

Hi all

I was stupid enough to get my wedding dress made in China and it's awful... Anyway, I have less than a month to go and I need something under £200 if poss.

We're doing everything on a budget - wedding in Gretna, parents only, no friends/family as we're both quite shy and wouldn't enjoy the attention (hardly anyone even knows it's happening!) - therefore, as we are to an extent parting with tradition, WIBU to wear red? TBH I'm going off the idea of ivory anyway as I really can't see myself looking good in it. I would however consider ivory if there was anything reasonably priced.

Thanks in advance!

YWNBU to wear red - it's entirely up to you what you like and feel comfortable in.

I would put in a word for blue, though, as it used to be a traditional wedding dress colour - it's the medieval colour of fidelity.

I had a similar wedding to you (completely planned and organised in 6 weeks while pregnant with DS)
I had always wanted to get married in a red dress! I tried on some gorgeous weddingy dresses in monsoon, evening dresses in house of Fraser but found a brilliant selection in debenhams. Ended up buying a stunning deep purple bridesmaid dress for under £100.
I went with my mum and a friend who couldn't come to the wedding and we had a lovely time too, even though it wasn't your traditional bridal shopping experience!

I think you'd be better off going dress hunting in person, but if you want some more things to consider, look at J Crew's wedding section online - they deliver to the UK. There are a bunch of knee length dresses with different necklines in red and white for your budget.

Thanks all - and thanks for the congratulations.

To the person who asked what's wrong with the China dress - it just fits really badly. I gave them measurements but the bust is just too high (not in a demure way, in a way that would make me look like I was suspended from a hanger, iyswim). Also not nice material. Fortunately they have agreed for me to return it.

Looking forward to my Oxfam trip tomorrow!

You could try the ASOS Marketplace - you'll have to have a bit of a search but there are some really gorgeous dresses on there :) Good luck!
