Tatty Hair

I have really thick hair, it's now down to past my shoulder blades. I long for a chic chin length bob, but I'm getting married next year so I'm going to keep growing it until the wedding. It's in fairly good condition, I don't blow dry or straighten it much and Tesco conditioner does seem to leave it in fairly good nick.

It's just the tattyness making me want to take scissors to it right now. I plait it before bed, go to sleep, plait has come out and I have a Russel Brand Esq style going on. Cue a good 30 mins of brushing. I wash and rinse it, tats like mad. I can do nothing without ending up with knots in my hair. Is there a product I can use to reduce this?

(Gosh this is long, just so sick of this and thinking of just accepting short wedding hair rather than have all this fuss for hair.

It sounds like it needs a good trim to get rid of all the tatty ends.

I do do the old MN haircut every two months. Do you think I need to trim more off, and accept the length loss. It's in good condition overall and I don't struggle with split ends.

Try a silk pillow case. You could also use argan oil. When brushing the tugs out do you start fro the bottom? If you put the brush to the top and try to go all the way down you will end up with a clump of tugs so you need to de tug the ends then move up a little and brush that section then move up again so there is tug free hair below the brush to move the knotted bits down and out if that makes sense?!?

Are you just shampooing the roots of your hair? The ends don't need rubbed harshly with shampoo, it strips grease of the roots/scalp but it strips off natural moisture etc too so you could try coating the ends in conditioner before you shampoo your scalp so that when you are rinsing the shampoo off the conditioner gives the ends some protection.

A good chop would probably really help though, look closely at pour hair and see where the condition deteriorates and chop it all off from there so you just have healthy, non split end hair to work with. Will give you plenty of time for it to grow before the wedding.

I've been using fushi argan oil for a few months on my long hair and it did make it soft, but still a bit tatty sometimes.

I've been using fushi organic virgin coconut oil for a week and my hair is lovely and smooth.

I use Aussie shampoo and conditioner for long hair.
