Make two piles: Things you have worn in the last 12 months and things you have not.

Take any 'specific occasion' clothes like ski jackets/evening gown etc out of the not worn pile and put in the have worn pile.

Put the rest of the not worn pile in a binbag for the charity shop.

Sort the 'have worn' heap into three piles:

  1. love it makes me feel great when I wear it
  2. it's OK and very useful - I wear it often
  3. Doesn't fit well/the colour doesn't suit me - never felt quite 'right' in it.

Pile 1 goes back in the wardrobe. Pile 3 goes in the charity bag.

Sort through pile 2 - do any items have a 'better' duplicate that was in pile 1 due to saving it for best? If so start wearing the nice version and charity the pile 2 version. Make a list of items in pile 2 that are wearing out or could be upgraded to guide future shopping trips.
