Long-term lurker here so this is my first post (although I suspect I'm opening the floodgates and will be banging on every day about some piece of clothing or other ...).
The constant rain and slight chill in the air are making my thoughts turn to autumn/winter and how this will be the year I finally purchase some wellies. No idea where to begin, though, as the absolute priority is that I can walk on slippery, ice-covered pavements in them (have a terrible fear of walking on frost and ice) as well as along muddy woodland paths and in the pelting rain. I seem to recall reading that some brands are rubbish on slippery surfaces and others are much better. Can anyone advise? I would prefer not to spend loads on these if at all possible, as I can't get very excited about wellies, but will fork out if necessary. Anything to avoid an embarrassing pratfall when the frosts arrive...
